Abstract

A web server may receive, from a controlling device, an internet based call that includes a video feed of a surveillance premises in response to a detected triggering event. The web server may also receive an identifier for a user account associated with the surveillance premises. The web server may determine a user preference for alerts based on the identifier for the user account, and send an alert notification that includes an Internet based link to the video feed based on the determined user preference for alerts. The web server may provide a web page that includes the video feed to at least one device associated with the user account. The web server may deliver the call directly to at least one device associated with the user account.

Claims

1. A computer implemented method, comprising:

monitoring, by a controlling device, a video feed of a surveillance premises associated with a user account;

detecting a triggering event in the surveillance premises;

sending an Internet based call that includes the video feed to a web server; and

providing an identifier for the user account to the web server, wherein the web server is operable to determine a recipient for the Internet based call based on the identifier for the user account and to connect the recipient to the video feed.

2. The computer implemented method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving an instruction for a response to the triggering event via the Internet based call;

implementing the response based on the instruction for the response received via the web call.

3. The computer implemented method of claim 2, wherein receiving the instruction for the response via the Internet based call further comprises:

receiving an instruction to control at least one of an alarm, a light device, a camera, a video device or an audio device.

4. The computer implemented method of claim 2, wherein receiving the instruction for the response via the Internet based call further comprises:

receiving an instruction to dismiss the detected triggering event.

5. The computer implemented method of claim 1, wherein the Internet based call is a web real time communication (webRTC) call.

6. The computer implemented method of claim 1, wherein detecting the triggering event in the surveillance premises further comprises:

performing a scene change detection on the video feed.

7. The computer implemented method of claim 1, wherein monitoring the video feed further comprises:

monitoring a sampled video feed including video feeds corresponding to multiple video cameras.

8. The computer implemented method of claim 1, wherein detecting the triggering event in the surveillance premises further comprises further comprises:

receiving a signal from a motion detector.

9. A computer implemented method, comprising:

receiving, from a controlling device, an internet based call that includes a video feed of a surveillance premises in response to a detected triggering event;

receiving an identifier for a user account associated with the surveillance premises;

determining, by the web server, a user preference for alerts based on the identifier for the user account;

sending an alert notification that includes an Internet based link to the video feed based on the determined user preference for alerts;

delivering the internet call with video feed to devices based on the determined user preference; and

providing a web page that includes the video feed to at least one device associated with the user account.

10. The computer implemented method of claim 9, wherein the device is a telephony device and providing the web page that includes the video feed further comprises:

providing the web page via a web real time communication (webRTC) signaling gateway.

11. The computer implemented method of claim 9, further comprising:

providing one or more of a service, feature or application based on the webRTC signaling gateway.

12. The computer implemented method of claim 9, providing the one or more of a service, feature or application based on the webRTC signaling gateway further comprises:

providing interworking with a public land mobile network.

13. The computer implemented method of claim 9, wherein providing the web page that includes the video feed to the at least one device associated with the user account further comprises:

providing the web page to a device with at least one preference and an identity that is provisioned in the controlling device.

14. The computer implemented method of claim 9, wherein providing the web page that includes the video feed to the at least one device associated with the user account further comprises:

providing the web page to at least one device associated with at least one of a police department, a fire department, an emergency service provider, or a security management company.

15. The computer implemented method of claim 9, wherein providing the web page that includes the video feed to the at least one device associated with the user account further comprises:

providing a password protected web page.

16. The computer implemented method of claim 9, wherein providing the web page that includes the video feed to the at least one device associated with the user account further comprises:

providing a graphical user interface that includes functionality to provide instructions to the controlling device based on the triggering event.

17. The computer implemented method of claim 9, wherein sending the alert notification further comprises;

sending at least one of an email, a short message, a social network message, or an online application based message to at least one recipient indicated by the user preference for alerts.

18. The computer implemented method of claim 9, wherein sending the alert notification further comprises;

delivering at least one of an audio or video call directly to at least one recipient indicated by the user preference for alerts.

19. A system, comprising:

at least one camera to provide a video feed of a surveillance location;

a set-top box to;

monitor the video feed,

detect a triggering event in the video feed, and

send an Internet based call that includes the video feed; and

provide an identifier for the user account;

a web server to;

determine a recipient for the Internet based call based on the identifier for the user account, and

connect the recipient to the video feed; and

a user device to access the video feed based on the user account.

20. A web server, comprising:

a memory to store a plurality of instructions; and

a processor to execute instructions in the memory to;

receive, from a controlling device, an internet based call that includes a video feed of a surveillance premises in response to a detected triggering event,

receive an identifier for a user account associated with the surveillance premises,

determine, by the web server, a user preference for alerts based on the identifier for the user account,

send an alert notification that includes an Internet based link to the video feed based on the determined user preference for alerts, and

provide a web page that includes the video feed to at least one device associated with the user account, and

deliver the call directly to at least one recipient.

21. The web server of claim 20, wherein the processor is further to execute instructions in the memory to:

support web real time communication (webRTC) applications.
