1. A method of managing artificial lighting in an environment illuminated by at least one lighting fixture coupled to a database via a data network, the method comprising:
- (A) storing a plurality of lighting parameters in the database, the plurality of lighting parameters including a desired illuminance level and/or a desired illuminance distribution in the environment as agreed upon by an operator of the environment and a manager of the at least one lighting fixture;
(B) performing a measurement of an illuminance level and/or an illuminance distribution in the environment;
(C) performing a comparison of the measurement of the illuminance level and/or the illuminance distribution in the environment made in (B) with the desired illuminance level and/or the desired illuminance distribution stored in (A); and
(D) adjusting the at least one lighting fixture via the data network in response to the comparison made in (C).

7. A method of managing artificial lighting in an environment illuminated by at least one lighting fixture according to an agreement between an operator of the environment and an administrator of the at least one lighting fixture, the method comprising:
-
(A) illuminating the environment with the at least one lighting fixture so as to provide as an illuminance level and/or an illuminance distribution specified in the agreement between the operater of the environment and the administrator of the at least one lighting fixture; (B) measuring, by the administrator of the at least one lighting fixture, the illuminance level and/or the illuminance distribution provided by the at least one lighting fixture in (A); (C) determining, by the administrator of the at least one lighting fixture, a charge based at least in part on the illuminance level and/or the illuminance distribution measured in (B); and (D) providing the operator of the environment with a report indicative of the charge determined in (C). - View Dependent Claims (8, 9, 10, 11, 12)

13. A system for managing illumination of an environment with artificial lighting from at least one lighting fixture, the system comprising:
-
a database to store a plurality of lighting parameters, the plurality of lighting parameters including a desired illuminance level and/or a desired illuminance distribution in the environment as agreed upon by an operator of the environment and a manager of the at least one lighting fixture; at least one sensor to perform a measurement of an illuminance level and/or an illuminance distribution in the environment; and a processor, operably coupled to the database and the at least one sensor, to (i) perform a comparison of the measurement of the illuminance level and/or the illuminance distribution in the environment with the desired illuminance level and/or the desired illuminance distribution stored in the database and (ii) adjust the at least one lighting fixture in response to the comparison. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15, 16, 17, 18)
