Abstract

Methods and systems to facilitate eye tracking data analysis are provided. Point of regard information from a first client device of a first user is received, where the point of regard information is determined by the first client device by detecting one or more eye features associated with an eye of the first user. The point of regard information is stored. A request to access the point of regard information is received, and the point of regard information is sent in response to the request, where the point of regard information is used in a subsequent operation.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving, at a computing device, an image of a portion of a user, the image including reflections caused by light reflected from the user;

detecting one or more eye features associated with an eye of the user including detecting the one or more eye features using the reflections;

determining point of regard information using the one or more eye features, the point of regard information indicating a location on a display of the computing device at which the user was looking when the image of the portion of the user was taken; and

sending the point of regard information to an application capable of performing a subsequent operation using the point of regard information.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the image was taken by a camera located on an eye tracking device coupled to the computing device.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the light reflected from the user was emitted from one or more light sources located on an eye tracking device coupled to the computing device.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein sending the point of regard information includes sending the point of regard information to a server capable of storing point of regard data for a plurality of users.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the point of regard data is capable of being accessed from the server by a second user, the subsequent operation including an analysis of the point of regard information performed by the second user.

6. A machine-readable storage medium storing instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

receiving, at a computing device, an image of a portion of a user, the image including reflections caused by light with which the user is illuminated and which is reflected from the user;

detecting one or more eye features associated with an eye of the user including detecting the one or more eye features using the reflections;

determining point of regard information using the one or more eye features, the point of regard information indicating a location on a display of the computing device at which the user was looking when the image of the portion of the user was taken; and

sending the point of regard information to an application capable of performing a subsequent operation using the point of regard information.

7. A method comprising:

receiving point of regard information from a first client device of a first user, the point of regard information being determined by the first client device by detecting one or more eye features associated with an eye of the first user;

storing the point of regard information;

receiving a request to access the point of regard information; and

sending the point of regard information in response to the request, the point of regard information being used in a subsequent operation.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the request is received from the first client device, the subsequent operation being performed by the first client device.

9. The method of claim 7, wherein the request is received from a second client device different than the first client device, the subsequent operation being performed by the second client device.

10. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

receiving user information associated with the first user, the user information including any one or combination of;

pointer input, screen capture, or biosignal input; and

storing the user information.

11. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

storing point of regard information associated with a plurality of users.

12. A machine-readable storage medium storing instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

receiving point of regard information from a first client device of a first user, the point of regard information being determined by the first client device by detecting one or more eye features associated with an eye of the first user;

storing the point of regard information;

receiving a request to access the point of regard information; and

sending the point of regard information in response to the request, the point of regard information being used in a subsequent operation.

13. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the request is received from the first client device, the subsequent operation being performed by the first client device.

14. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the request is received from a second client device different than the first client device, the subsequent operation being performed by the second client device.

15. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to perform further operations comprising:

receiving user information associated with the first user, the user information including any one or combination of;

pointer input, screen capture, or biosignal input; and

storing the user information.

16. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to perform further operations comprising:

storing point of regard information associated with a plurality of users.

17. A server comprising:

a hardware-implemented point of regard input module configured to receive point of regard information from a first client device of a first user, the point of regard information being determined by the first client device by detecting one or more eye features associated with an eye of the first user;

a hardware-implemented storage module configured to store the point of regard information;

a hardware-implemented request input module configured to receive a request to access the point of regard information; and

a hardware-implemented output module configured to send the point of regard information in response to the request, the point of regard information being used in a subsequent operation.

18. The server of claim 17, wherein the request is received from the first client device, the subsequent operation being performed by the first client device.

19. The server of claim 17, wherein the request is received from a second client device different than the first client device, the subsequent operation being performed by the second client device.

20. The server of claim 17, wherein the hardware-implemented point of regard input module is further configured to receive user information associated with the first user, the user information including any one or combination of:

pointer input, screen capture, or biosignal input, and wherein the hardware-implemented storage module is further configured to store the user information.

21. The server of claim 17, wherein the hardware-implemented storage module is further configured to store point of regard information associated with a plurality of users.
