Abstract

Location information may be gathered, managed, stored, and/or otherwise utilized to determine unique geo-referenced locations. The geo-referenced locations may be utilized to inform various processes and decisions such as insurance underwriting, risk assessment, pricing, and risk/loss control. Geo-referenced location information may also be utilized to allow for user-defined or customized value subject data gathering, analysis, and management.

Claims

1. A system, comprising:

a processing device; and

a memory device in communication with the processing device, the memory device storing instructions that when executed by a processing device result in;

receiving, via a graphical user interface comprising a graphical depiction of a geographical area, an indication of a user-defined location on the graphical depiction of the geographical area;

determining, based on the user-defined location, a value subject associated with the user-defined location;

determining, based on the determination of the value subject associated with the user-defined location, data descriptive of the value subject; and

providing, via the interface, the determined data descriptive of the value subject.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the determining of the value subject associated with the user-defined location, comprises:

identifying, based on the user-defined location, at least one coordinate descriptive of the user-defined location; and

selecting, from a plurality of possible value subjects and based on a stored association with the at least one coordinate, the value subject from the plurality of possible value subjects.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the determining of the value subject associated with the user-defined location, comprises:

identifying a plurality of points defining a polygon associated with the user-defined location;

converting data descriptive of the plurality of points into a coordinate point format; and

querying, utilizing the coordinate point formatted data descriptive of the plurality of points, a database.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the determining of the data descriptive of the value subject, comprises one or more of:

(i) (a) querying a third-party database utilizing an identifier of the value subject; and

(b) receiving, from the third-party database and in response to the query, the data descriptive of the value subject; and

(ii) retrieving, from a database and utilizing an identifier of the value subject, the data descriptive of the value subject.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the user-defined location comprises a user-defined point.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the user-defined location comprises a user-defined line.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the user-defined location comprises a user-defined polygon.

8. The system of claim 7, wherein the determining of the value subject associated with the user-defined location, comprises:

identifying a plurality of points defining the user-defined polygon of the user-defined location;

converting data descriptive of the plurality of points into a coordinate point format; and

querying, utilizing the coordinate point formatted data descriptive of the plurality of points, a database storing coordinate point data associated with a plurality of value subjects.

9. The system of claim 7, wherein the determining of the value subject associated with the user-defined location, comprises:

querying, utilizing data defining the user-defined polygon of the user-defined location, a database storing data associated with a plurality of locations;

determining, based on the query, a subset of the locations of the plurality of locations that are bounded by the user-defined polygon of the user-defined location;

determining, for each of the locations of the subset of locations, a data attribute;

aggregating the determined data attributes for the subset of locations; and

storing an indication that the aggregated data attributes for the subset of locations define the value subject.

10. The system of claim 1, wherein the instructions, when executed by the processing device, further result in:

providing the graphical user interface.

11. The system of claim 1, wherein the instructions, when executed by the processing device, further result in:

receiving a fee in exchange for the providing of the determined data descriptive of the value subject.

12. A computer-readable memory device storing instructions that when executed by a processing device result in:

receiving, via a graphical user interface comprising a graphical depiction of a geographical area, an indication of a user-defined location on the graphical depiction of the geographical area;

determining, based on the user-defined location, a value subject associated with the user-defined location;

determining, based on the determination of the value subject associated with the user-defined location, data descriptive of the value subject; and

providing, via the interface, the determined data descriptive of the value subject.

13. The computer-readable memory device of claim 12, wherein the determining of the value subject associated with the user-defined location, comprises:

identifying, based on the user-defined location, at least one coordinate descriptive of the user-defined location; and

selecting, from a plurality of possible value subjects and based on a stored association with the at least one coordinate, the value subject from the plurality of possible value subjects.

14. The computer-readable memory device of claim 12, wherein the determining of the value subject associated with the user-defined location, comprises:

identifying a plurality of points defining a polygon associated with the user-defined location;

converting data descriptive of the plurality of points into a coordinate point format; and

querying, utilizing the coordinate point formatted data descriptive of the plurality of points, a database.

15. The computer-readable memory device of claim 12, wherein the determining of the data descriptive of the value subject, comprises one or more of:

(i) (a) querying a third-party database utilizing an identifier of the value subject; and

(b) receiving, from the third-party database and in response to the query, the data descriptive of the value subject; and

(ii) retrieving, from a database and utilizing an identifier of the value subject, the data descriptive of the value subject.

16. The computer-readable memory device of claim 12, wherein the user-defined location comprises a user-defined point.

17. The computer-readable memory device of claim 12, wherein the user-defined location comprises a user-defined line.

18. The computer-readable memory device of claim 12, wherein the user-defined location comprises a user-defined polygon.

19. The computer-readable memory device of claim 18, wherein the determining of the value subject associated with the user-defined location, comprises:

identifying a plurality of points defining the user-defined polygon of the user-defined location;

converting data descriptive of the plurality of points into a coordinate point format; and

querying, utilizing the coordinate point formatted data descriptive of the plurality of points, a database storing coordinate point data associated with a plurality of value subjects.

20. The computer-readable memory device of claim 18, wherein the determining of the value subject associated with the user-defined location, comprises:

querying, utilizing data defining the user-defined polygon of the user-defined location, a database storing data associated with a plurality of locations;

determining, based on the query, a subset of the locations of the plurality of locations that are bounded by the user-defined polygon of the user-defined location;

determining, for each of the locations of the subset of locations, a data attribute;

aggregating the determined data attributes for the subset of locations; and

storing an indication that the aggregated data attributes for the subset of locations define the value subject.

21. The computer-readable memory device of claim 12, wherein the instructions, when executed by the processing device, further result in:

providing the graphical user interface.

22. The computer-readable memory device of claim 12, wherein the instructions, when executed by the processing device, further result in:

receiving a fee in exchange for the providing of the determined data descriptive of the value subject.
