METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ALLOCATING TERMINAL IDENTIFIERS BASED ON COMMUNICATION FUNCTION

1. A wireless communication apparatus communicating with a destination communication apparatus using terminal identifiers comprising;
- a receiving section to receive signals comprising information to allocate one or more terminal identifiers and communication data,a control section to control sections within the communication apparatus based on one or more allocated terminal identifiers,wherein the receiving section is capable of selecting a function among a plurality of functions to receive communication data,wherein the control section searches the information to allocate one or more terminal identifiers for one or more terminal identifiers allocated to itself,wherein the control section configures correspondence between the identifiers allocated to itself and the functions to receive communication data,wherein the number of the functions is greater than 1, each of the numbers of allocatable terminal identifiers for one function to receive communication data is different,the way to use flag bits received with a communication data depends on the function to receive communication data,in case that a terminal identifier received with the communication data corresponds to the terminal identifier allocated to itself, the control section configures the receiving section depending on the selected function to receive communication data and flag bits corresponding the terminal identifier and receives communication data.

Abstract
A communication means which allocates a terminal identifier to a destination communication apparatus and carries out communication with the destination communication apparatus by use of a plurality of functions including an identifier generation section 152 for generating different terminal identifiers corresponding to a function used and an identifier allocation section 114 having an identifier selecting section 104 for allocation to the destination communication apparatus. Using a plurality of different terminal identifiers (terminal function identifiers), a function to be used between the destination can be specified. Moreover, it is possible to optimize the size of a memory for storing information required for adaptive modulation control.
