Abstract

A method for operating a mobile station in a mobile communication system. The method includes: receiving a plurality of transmit (Tx) beam signals from a base station; generating indication information for indicating a difference in arrival time between effective Tx beam signals selected from the received Tx beam signals; and transmitting feedback information including the indication information to the base station.

Claims

1. A method for operating a mobile station in a mobile communication system, the method comprising:

receiving a plurality of transmit (Tx) beam signals from a base station;

generating indication information for indicating a difference in arrival time between effective Tx beam signals selected from the received Tx beam signals; and

transmitting feedback information including the indication information to the base station.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the feedback information further includes channel quality information for the effective Tx beam signals.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of Tx beam signals include a reference channel signal.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the effective Tx beam signals include a predetermined number of selected Tx beam signals having excellent received signal quality among the received Tx beam signals.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein generating the indication information comprises:

sequentially arranging the selected effective Tx beam signals;

grouping effective Tx beam signals in which a difference in arrival time between adjacent Tx beam signals is smaller than a preset threshold value among the sequentially arranged effective Tx beam signals; and

generating the indication information indicating whether each of the selected effective Tx beam signals is included in the grouped effective Tx beam signals.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein generating the indication information comprises:

calculating a relationship of the difference in arrival time between the selected effective Tx beam signals; and

generating the indication information based on the calculated relationship.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the relationship indicates whether the difference in arrival time between the selected effective Tx beam signals is larger than or smaller than a preset threshold value.

8. The method of claim 6, wherein the indication information includes information of bits, a number of which is one less than a number of the selected effective Tx beam signals.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein generating the indication information comprises:

determining one reference effective Tx beam signal of the selected effective Tx beam signals;

calculating a difference in arrival time between the one reference effective Tx beam signal and other effective Tx beam signals; and

generating the indication information indicating a difference in arrival time with respect to each of the other effective Tx beam signals.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein determining the one reference effective Tx beam signal comprises determining one of an effective Tx beam signal having a best received signal quality or an effective Tx beam signal received at an earliest time point as the one reference effective Tx beam signal among the selected effective Tx beam signals.

11. A method for operating a base station in a mobile communication system, the method comprising:

transmitting a plurality of transmit (Tx) beam signals; and

receiving, from a mobile station, feedback information including indication information indicating a difference in arrival time at the mobile station between effective Tx beam signals selected from the Tx beam signals.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the feedback information further includes channel quality information for the effective Tx beam signals.

13. The method of claim 11, wherein the plurality of Tx beam signals include a reference channel signal.

14. The method of claim 11, wherein the effective Tx beam signals include a predetermined number of selected Tx beam signals having a received signal quality with respect to the mobile station among the Tx beam signals.

15. The method of claim 11, wherein:

the indication information includes information indicating whether each of the selected effective Tx beam signals is included in grouped effective Tx beam signals, and

the grouped effective Tx beam signals are effective Tx beam signals in which a difference in arrival time between adjacent Tx beam signals is smaller than a preset threshold value among the sequentially arranged effective Tx beam signals.

16. The method of claim 11, wherein the indication information includes information generated based on a relationship of a difference in arrival time between the selected effective Tx beam signals.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the relationship indicates whether the difference in arrival time between the selected effective Tx beam signals is larger than or smaller than a preset threshold value.

18. The method of claim 16, wherein the indication information includes information of bits, a number of which is one less than a number of the selected effective Tx beam signals.

19. The method of claim 11, wherein the indication information includes information indicating a difference in arrival time between one reference effective Tx beam signal and each of other effective Tx beam signals among the selected effective Tx beam signals.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the one reference effective Tx beam signal includes one of an effective Tx beam signal having a best received signal quality or an effective Tx beam signal received at an earliest time point among the selected effective Tx beam signals.

21. An apparatus for a mobile station in a mobile communication system, the apparatus comprising:

a receiver configured to receive a plurality of transmit (Tx) beam signals from a base station;

a controller configured to generate indication information indicating a difference in arrival time between effective Tx beam signals selected from the received Tx beam signals; and

a transmitter configured to transmit feedback information including the indication information to the base station.

22. The apparatus of claim 21, wherein the feedback information further includes channel quality information for the effective Tx beam signals.

23. The apparatus of claim 21, wherein the plurality of Tx beam signals include a reference channel signal.

24. The apparatus of claim 21, wherein the effective Tx beam signals include a predetermined number of selected Tx beam signals having a received signal quality among the received Tx beam signals.

25. The apparatus of claim 21, wherein the controller is configured to:

sequentially arrange the selected effective Tx beam signals;

group effective Tx beam signals in which a difference in arrival time between adjacent Tx beam signals is smaller than a preset threshold value among the sequentially arranged effective Tx beam signals; and

generate the indication information indicating whether each of the selected effective Tx beam signals is included in the grouped effective Tx beam signals.

26. The apparatus of claim 21, wherein the controller is configured to calculate a relationship of a difference in arrival time between the selected effective Tx beam signals and generate the indication information based on the calculated relationship.

27. The apparatus of claim 26, wherein the relationship indicates whether the difference in arrival time between the selected effective Tx beam signals is larger than or smaller than a preset threshold value.

28. The apparatus of claim 26, wherein the indication information includes information of bits, a number of which is one less than a number of the selected effective Tx beam signals.

29. The apparatus of claim 21, wherein the controller is configured to:

determine one reference effective Tx beam signal of the selected effective Tx beam signals;

calculate a difference in arrival time between the one reference effective Tx beam signal and each of other effective Tx beam signals; and

generate the indication information indicating the difference in arrival time with respect to each of the other effective Tx beam signals.

30. The apparatus of claim 29, wherein the one reference effective Tx beam signal includes one of an effective Tx beam signal having a best received signal quality or an effective Tx beam signal received at an earliest time point among the selected effective Tx beam signals.

31. An apparatus for a base station in a mobile communication system, the apparatus comprising:

a transmitter configured to transmit a plurality of transmit (Tx) beam signals; and

a receiver configured to receive, from a mobile station, feedback information including indication information indicating a difference in arrival time at the mobile station between effective Tx beam signals selected from the Tx beam signals.

32. The apparatus of claim 31, wherein the feedback information further includes channel quality information for the effective Tx beam signals.

33. The apparatus of claim 31, wherein the plurality of Tx beam signals include a reference channel signal.

34. The apparatus of claim 31, wherein the effective Tx beam signals include a predetermined number of selected Tx beam signals having a received signal quality with respect to the mobile station among the Tx beam signals.

35. The apparatus of claim 31, wherein:

the indication information includes information indicating whether each of the selected effective Tx beam signals is included in grouped effective Tx beam signals, and

the grouped effective Tx beam signals are effective Tx beam signals in which a difference in arrival time between adjacent Tx beam signals is smaller than a preset threshold value among the sequentially arranged effective Tx beam signals.

36. The apparatus of claim 31, wherein the indication information includes information generated based on a relationship of a difference in arrival time between the selected effective Tx beam signals.

37. The apparatus of claim 36, wherein the relationship indicates whether the difference in arrival time between the selected effective Tx beam signals is larger than or smaller than a preset threshold value.

38. The apparatus of claim 36, wherein the indication information includes information of bits, a number of which is one less than a number of the selected effective Tx beam signals.

39. The apparatus of claim 31, wherein the indication information includes information indicating a difference in arrival time between one reference effective Tx beam signal and each of other effective Tx beam signals among the selected effective Tx beam signals.

40. The apparatus of claim 39, wherein the one reference effective Tx beam signal includes one of an effective Tx beam signal having a best received signal quality or an effective Tx beam signal received at an earliest time point among the selected effective Tx beam signals.
