Abstract

An improved system and method for defining an event based upon an object location and a user-defined zone and managing the conveyance of object location event information among computing devices where object location events are defined in terms of a condition based upon a relationship between user-defined zone information and object location information. One or more location information sources are associated with an object to provide the object location information. One or more user-defined zones are defined on a map and one or more object location events are defined. The occurrence of an object location event produces object location event information that is conveyed to users based on user identification codes. Accessibility to object location information, zone information, and object location event information is based upon an object location information access code, a zone information access code, and an object location event information access code, respectively.

A system for conveying a plurality of event information associated with a corresponding plurality of events that occur based on conditional satisfactions of a corresponding plurality of specified event configurations related to locations of a corresponding plurality of mobile objects having a corresponding plurality of mobile object identification codes, wherein each mobile object is associated with at least one location information source that provides a corresponding location information over a wireless communication network, said system comprising:

one or more computer servers adapted to create a plurality of information-sharing environments for a plurality of authorized users having a corresponding plurality of authorized user identification codes over a network of personal computers and wireless computing devices that execute location based software, wherein at least some of said plurality of information-sharing environments are accessible and configurable based on varying levels of administrator privilege, said varying levels of administrator privilege comprising a first level of administrator privilege and one or more second levels of administrator privilege, said plurality of information-sharing environments comprising a first information-sharing environment accessible based on said first level of administrator privilege for configuring a plurality of event information-sharing environments within said first information-sharing environment independent of one another, wherein said plurality of event information-sharing environments are configurable based on said one or more second levels of administrator privilege by specifying the plurality of specified event configurations;

an access control system that based on said varying levels of administrator privileges communicates with said one or more computer servers to control access to the plurality of information sharing environments, wherein access control to the plurality of information sharing environments is based on access control codes requiring multiple levels of access control comprising a first level of access control and a plurality of second levels of access control, wherein access to said first information sharing environment is controlled under the first level of access control based on access control codes associated with the plurality of authorized user identification codes for configuring the plurality of the specified event configurations, wherein the plurality of specified event configurations are configured independently based on a corresponding plurality of event information access codes that are associated with the plurality of authorized user identification codes; and

an administrator system in communication with said one or more computer servers adapted to configure a corresponding plurality of access privileges for the plurality of authorized users based on the plurality of event information access codes, wherein conveyance of the plurality of event information is managed based on the plurality of access privileges.

The system of claim 31, wherein said varying levels of administrative privilege further comprises a third level of administrator privilege and a third level of access control, wherein access to the plurality of event information is based on the varying levels of administrative privileges under multiple levels of access control.

The system of claim 31, wherein said plurality of access privileges comprise privileges to a plurality of other authorized users having corresponding other user identification code different from each other to access the plurality of event information based on the varying levels of administrative privilege under multiple levels of access control.

The system of claim 33, wherein said plurality of access privileges comprise privileges the plurality of other authorized users to independently configure the plurality of specified event configurations based on the varying levels of administrative privilege under multiple levels of access control.

35. The system of claim 31, wherein said plurality of access privileges comprise privileges to access to the plurality of object location information based on the varying levels of administrative privilege under multiple levels of access control.

36. The system of claim 31, further comprising one or more databases accessible by the one or more computer servers adapted to store a plurality of identification codes comprising said plurality of authorized user identification codes and mobile object identification codes, wherein said plurality of identification codes are associated with a plurality of user group identification codes in the one or more data bases under a plurality of grouping configurations associated with said plurality of specified event configurations.

37. The system of claim 36, wherein said plurality specified event configurations comprising:

a first specified event configuration associated with a first event information sharing environment, said first specified event configuration being configurable based on a first authorized user identification code of a first authorized user for specifying a first user-defined event related with a location information of a first mobile object having a first mobile object identification code; and

a second specified event configuration associated with a second event information sharing environment different from the first event information sharing environment, said second specified event configuration being configurable based on a second authorized user identification code by a second authorized user for defining a second defined event related a location information of a second mobile object having a second mobile object identification code different from the first mobile object identification code,

wherein said plurality of user group identification codes comprise a first user group identification code and a second user group identification code, wherein the first user group identification code is associated with the first authorized identification code and the first mobile object identification code, and wherein the second user group identification code is associated with the second authorized identification code and the second mobile object identification code,

wherein said plurality of access privileges comprise a first access privilege configured for the first authorized user and second first access privilege configured for the second authorized user, and

wherein conveyance of a first and a second event information is managed based on the first and second access privileges.

38. The system of claim 36, further comprising one or more computing devices remote from the plurality of mobile objects adapted to determine occurrence of events based on the plurality of specified event configurations.

The system of claim 38, wherein each mobile objects is associated with a plurality of location information sources comprising a first location information source at each mobile and a second location information source remote from each mobile object, wherein location information of each mobile object is provided based on the first location information provided by the first information source in combination with second location information provided by the second information source.

40. The system of claim 39, wherein the first location information source comprises a satellite-based positioning system and the second location information source comprises a cellular-based positioning system.

41. The system of claim 36, wherein said plurality of grouping configurations are authorized-user specified.

42. The system of claim 41, wherein said plurality of specified event configurations are authorized-user defined.

43. The system of claim 36, wherein said plurality of grouping configurations are predefined by the administrator system.

44. The system of claim 43, wherein said plurality of specified event configurations are predefined by the administrator system.

45. The system of claim 43, wherein said plurality of specified event configurations comprise a plurality of authorized user defined schedules.

46. The system of claim 36, wherein said plurality of specified event configurations comprise a plurality of zones.

47. The system of claim 46, wherein said plurality of zones comprise authorized user defined.

49. A method for conveying a plurality of event information associated with a corresponding plurality of events that occur based on conditional satisfactions of a corresponding plurality of specified event configurations related to a corresponding plurality of object configurations of a corresponding plurality mobile objects having a corresponding plurality of mobile object identification codes, wherein each mobile object is associated with at least one location information source that provides a corresponding location information over a wireless communication network, wherein the plurality of object configurations are related to a corresponding plurality of object location information provided by a corresponding plurality of location information sources, said method comprising:

creating a plurality of information-sharing environments for a plurality of authorized users having a corresponding plurality of authorized user identification codes over a network of personal computers and wireless computing devices that execute location based software, wherein at least some of said plurality of information-sharing environments are accessible and configurable after a plurality of grants based on varying levels of administrator privileges, said varying levels of administrator privileges comprising a first level of administrator privilege and one or more second levels of administrator privileges, said plurality of information-sharing environments comprising a first information-sharing environment accessible based on said first level of administrator privilege for configuring a plurality of event information-sharing environments within said first information-sharing environment independent of one another, wherein said plurality of event information-sharing environments are configurable based on said one or more second levels of administrator privilege by specifying the plurality of specified event configurations;

controlling access to the plurality of information sharing environments based on said varying levels of administrator privileges to control access to the plurality of information sharing environments, wherein access control to the plurality of information sharing environments is based on access control codes requiring multiple levels of access control comprising a first level of access control and a plurality of second levels of access control, wherein access to said first information sharing environment is controlled under the first level of access control based on access control codes associated with the plurality of authorized user identification codes for configuring the plurality of the specified event configurations, wherein the plurality of specified event configurations are configured independently based on a corresponding plurality of event information access codes that are associated with the plurality of authorized user identification codes; and

configuring a corresponding plurality of access privileges for the plurality of authorized users based on the plurality of event information access codes, wherein conveyance of event information is managed based on the plurality of access privileges.

The method of claim 49 further comprising storing a plurality of identification codes comprising said plurality of authorized user identification codes and mobile object identification codes, wherein said plurality of identification codes are associated with a plurality of user group identification codes in the one or more data bases under a plurality of grouping configurations associated with said plurality of specified event configurations, wherein said plurality of grouping configurations are authorized-user specified.

The method of claim 49, further comprising storing a plurality of identification codes comprising said plurality of authorized user identification codes and mobile object identification codes, wherein said plurality of identification codes are associated with a plurality of user group identification codes in the one or more data bases under a plurality of grouping configurations associated with said plurality of specified event configurations, wherein said plurality of grouping configurations are predefined by an administrator.
