1. A computer-implemented method for transferring medical data from a handheld medical recording device to a host computer, comprising:
- accessing an account using a web browser on a patient computer, where the account resides on the host computer and is associated with a patient;
downloading a device transfer component from the host computer via network to the patient computer;
establishing, by the device transfer component, an association between the patient account and the device transfer component at the host computer;
receiving, by the device transfer component, an authentication token from the host computer;
receiving, by the device transfer component, medical data from a handheld medical device being associated with the patient;
sending, by the device transfer component, the medical data, along with the authentication token, over the network to the host computer; and
associating, at the host computer, the medical data with the patient account, where the association is made using the authentication token received with the medical data.
