Abstract

A communication device capable of handling, even in the case where requests for provision of a service are received from a plurality of devices, the requests appropriately, is provided.

A communication device which provides a service to a service utilizing device which utilizes a service, determines whether or not the communication device is executing a service requested from the service utilizing device. In the case where it is determined that the communication device is executing the service, the communication device makes a response to the request with the contents of the response changed according to whether or not the service is able to be provided to a plurality of service utilizing devices.

Claims

1. A communication device comprising:

service providing means for providing a service to a service utilizing device which utilizes a service;

determining means for determining whether or not the communication device is executing a service requested from the service utilizing device; and

responding means for making, in a case where it is determined by the determining means that the communication device is executing the service, a response to the request with contents of the response changed according to whether or not the service is able to be provided to a plurality of service utilizing devices.

2. The communication device according to claim 1, wherein the responding means makes a response to the request with the contents of the response changed according to whether or not the requested service is able to be provided to a plurality of service utilizing devices at the same time.

8. The communication device according to claim 1,

wherein the service provided by the service providing device includes any of a printing service, a moving image streaming service, and a file transfer service.

9. The communication device according to claim 1,

wherein the communication device communicates with the service utilizing device which utilizes a service, using a wireless LAN conforming to IEEE 802.11.

13. A program for causing a computer to operate as the communication device according to claim 1.

3. A communication device comprising:

service providing means for providing a service to a service utilizing device which utilizes a service;

determining means for determining whether or not the communication device is executing a service requested from the service utilizing device; and

responding means for making, in a case where it is determined by the determining means that the communication device is executing the service, a response to the request with contents of the response changed according to an instruction from a user.

4. The communication device according to claim 3, further comprising:

notifying means for transmitting, in a case where it is determined by the determining means that the communication device is executing the service, information indicating that the service that is being executed is requested from a service utilizing device,

wherein the responding means makes a response to the request with the contents of the response changed according to the instruction from the user to the information transmitted by the notifying means.

14. A program for causing a computer to operate as the communication device according to claim 3.

5. A communication device capable of wireless communication, comprising:

service providing means for performing wireless communication with a service utilizing device which utilizes a service and providing a service;

determining means for determining whether or not the communication device is executing a service requested from the service utilizing device; and

responding means for making, in a case where it is determined by the determining means that the communication device is executing the service, a response to the request with contents of the response changed according to a role of the communication device in a wireless layer.

6. The communication device according to claim 5,

wherein in a case where the role of the communication device in the wireless layer is a role as a device which establishes a wireless network, the responding means makes a response indicating that the service is able to be provided.

7. The communication device according to claim 5,

wherein in a case where the role of the communication device in the wireless layer is a role as a device which takes part in an established wireless network, the responding means makes a response indicating that the communication device is executing the service.

15. A program for causing a computer to operate as the communication device according to claim 5.

10. A control method for a communication device, the method comprising:

a service providing step of providing a service to a service utilizing device which utilizes a service;

a determining step of determining whether or not the communication device is executing a service requested from the service utilizing device; and

a responding step of making, in a case where it is determined in the determining step that the communication device is executing the service, a response to the request with contents of the response changed according to whether or not the service is able to be provided to a plurality of service utilizing devices.

11. A control method for a communication device, the method comprising:

a service providing step of providing a service to a service utilizing device which utilizes a service;

a determining step of determining whether or not the communication device is executing a service requested from the service utilizing device; and

a responding step of making, in a case where it is determined in the determining step that the communication device is executing the service, a response to the request with contents of the request changed according to an instruction from a user.

12. A control method for a communication device capable of wireless communication, the method comprising:

a service providing step of performing wireless communication with a service utilizing device which utilizes a service and providing a service;

a determining step of determining whether or not the communication device is executing a service requested from the service utilizing device; and

a responding step of making, in a case where it is determined in the determining step that the communication device is executing the service, a response to the request with contents of the response changed according to a role of the communication device in a wireless layer.
