Abstract

A method of wireless communications identifies a first virtual cell identity. The method also includes determining one or more virtual cells based on the identified first virtual cell identity. The method further includes processing one channel based on the determination.

Claims

1. A method of wireless communications, comprising:

identifying a first virtual cell identity (VCI);

determining at least one first virtual cell based at least in part on the identified first VCI, in which each virtual cell is associated with at least one parameter from a set of parameters; and

processing at least one channel based at least in part on the determination.

2. The method of claim 1, in which the first VCI is identified based at least in part on an information field in a control channel or a semi-static configuration.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving the set of parameters for a rate matching operation, a quasi-co-location for coordinated multipoint (CoMP) operation, or a combination thereof.

4. The method of claim 3, in which the rate matching operation and the quasi-co-location for CoMP operation are for at least a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH), or a combination thereof.

5. The method of claim 3, further comprising determining a timing for the processing based at least in part on the first VCI, the set of parameters, the at least one first virtual cell, or a combination thereof.

6. The method of claim 1, in which the processing comprises interference cancellation or interference suppression.

7. The method of claim 6, in which the interference cancellation or interference suppression is performed for at least inter-cell interference, intra-cell interference due to single-user multiple-input multiple-output (SU-MIMO) operation, intra-cell interference due to multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) operation, or a combination thereof.

8. The method of claim 1, in which the at least one parameter comprises at least a cell identity, a number of ports for cell-specific reference signals (CRS), a frequency shift of CRS, a demodulation reference signal, a modulation order for a data channel or a control channel, at least one channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) configuration, or a combination thereof.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising identifying a second VCI that is different from the first VCI, in which at least one second virtual cell is determined based at least in part on the identified second VCI.

10. The method of claim 9, in which the at least one second virtual cell is different from the at least one first virtual cell associated with the first VCI, and a difference comprises at least a number of virtual cells, the at least one parameter associated with the at least one first virtual cell, or a combination thereof.

11. The method of claim 9, in which the first VCI and the second VCI are identified in a same frame.

12. The method of claim 9, in which the first VCI is identified in a first subframe and the second VCI is identified in a second subframe that is different from the first subframe.

13. The method of claim 1, in which the at least one channel is a data channel or a control channel.

14. A method of wireless communication, comprising:

determining a difference in observed interference between a plurality of interference measurement resources (IMRs); and

reporting channel state information (CSI) based at least in part on the determined difference.

15. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

a memory; and

at least one processor coupled to the memory, the at least one processor being configured;

to identify a first virtual cell identity (VCI);

to determine at least one first virtual cell based at least in part on the identified first VCI, in which each virtual cell is associated with at least one parameter from a set of parameters; and

to process at least one channel based at least in part on the determination.

16. The apparatus of claim 15, in which the first VCI is identified based at least in part on an information field in a control channel or a semi-static configuration.

17. The apparatus of claim 15, in which the at least one processor is further configured to receive the set of parameters for a rate matching operation, a quasi-co-location for coordinated multipoint (CoMP) operation, or a combination thereof.

18. The apparatus of claim 17, in which the rate matching operation and the quasi-co-location for CoMP operation are for at least a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH), or a combination thereof.

19. The apparatus of claim 17, in which the at least one processor is further configured to determine a timing for processing the at least one channel based at least in part on the first VCI, the set of parameters, the at least one first virtual cell, or a combination thereof.

20. The apparatus of claim 15, in which the at least one processor is further configured to process by performing interference cancellation or interference suppression.

21. The apparatus of claim 20, in which the interference cancellation or interference suppression is performed for at least inter-cell interference, intra-cell interference due to single-user multiple-input multiple-output (SU-MIMO) operation, intra-cell interference due to multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) operation, or a combination thereof.

22. The apparatus of claim 15, in which the at least one parameter comprises at least a cell identity, a number of ports for cell-specific reference signals (CRS), a frequency shift of CRS, a demodulation reference signal, a modulation order for a data channel or a control channel, at least one channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) configuration, or a combination thereof.

23. The apparatus of claim 15, in which the at least one processor is further configured to identify a second VCI that is different from the first VCI, in which at least one second virtual cell is determined based at least in part on the identified second VCI.

24. The apparatus of claim 23, in which the at least one second virtual cell is different from the at least one first virtual cell associated with the first VCI, and the difference comprises at least a number of virtual cells, the at least one parameter associated with the at least one first virtual cell, or a combination thereof.

25. The apparatus of claim 23, in which the first VCI and the second VCI are identified in a same frame.

26. The apparatus of claim 23, in which the first VCI is identified in a first subframe and the second VCI is identified in a second subframe that is different from the first subframe.

27. The apparatus of claim 15, in which the at least one channel is a data channel or a control channel.

28. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

a memory; and

at least one processor coupled to the memory, the at least one processor being configured;

to determine a difference in observed interference between a plurality of interference measurement resources (IMRs); and

to report channel state information (CSI) based at least in part on the determined difference.
