Abstract
A method of controlling a portable device according to one embodiment of the present specification may be able to selectively activate the functions of a multifunctional control button. The method of controlling the portable device may include the steps of sensing a first control input for a control button configured to perform a fingerprint recognition function and a control input detection function, recognizing a fingerprint of the first control input by activating the fingerprint recognition function, if the fingerprint recognition function is activated, deactivating the control input detection function, and if the activated fingerprint recognition function is terminated, activating the control input detection function.

21. A portable device, comprising:

a display unit configured to display an execution screen of an application and a home screen of the portable device; a control button configured to receive a control input including a fingerprint input and a push input; and a controller configured to; execute a first execution function corresponding to the fingerprint input and a second execution function corresponding to the push input, wherein the first execution function is a security authentication for the application using the received fingerprint input and the second execution function is a transition from the execution screen of the application to the home screen, receive a first control input when the execution screen of the application is displayed, recognize a first fingerprint input of the first control input by activating a fingerprint recognition function, wherein a push input detection function is deactivated for avoiding detection of a first push input of the first control input while the fingerprint recognition function is activated, execute the first execution function, wherein the first execution function is the security authentication for the application using the recognized first fingerprint input, activate the deactivated push input detection function when the first execution function is terminated, even though the security authentication is failed, receive a second push input of a second control input which is input after the first control input is terminated, the second control input including the second push input and a second fingerprint input, and display the home screen of the portable device by executing the second execution function corresponding to the second push input of the second control input, wherein the second execution function is not associated with the second fingerprint input of the second control input, and the second fingerprint input is not utilized in the second execution function. - View Dependent Claims (22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39)

40. A method for controlling a portable device, the method comprising:

receiving a first control input when an execution screen of an application is displayed, wherein the first control input includes a first fingerprint input and a first push input; recognizing the first fingerprint input of the first control input by activating a fingerprint recognition function, wherein a push input detection function is deactivated for avoiding detection of the first push input of the first control input while the fingerprint recognition function is activated; executing a first execution function, wherein the first execution function is a security authentication for the application using the recognized first fingerprint input; activating the deactivated push input detection function when the first execution function is terminated, even though the security authentication is failed; receiving a second push input of a second control input which is input after the first control input is terminated, the second control input including the second push input and a second fingerprint input; and displaying a home screen of the portable device as a second execution function corresponding to the second push input of the second control input, wherein the second execution function is not associated with the second fingerprint input of the second control input, and the second fingerprint input is not utilized in the second execution function.
