1. A treatment system for treating a septal defect, comprising:

  • an implantable device, comprising an elongate body portion having a first end, a second end, and a variable length section located therebetween, the implantable device further comprising a first arm-like member coupled with the first end and a second arm-like member coupled with the second end, the arm-like members being configured to move from a stressed, undeployed configuration to an unstressed, deployed configuration, wherein the implantable device is configured to at least partially close a septal defect in a septal wall when the first and second arm-like members are in the deployed configuration; and

    a delivery device configured to hold the undeployed arm-like members in a stressed condition prior to delivery of the implantable device, the delivery device comprising an elongate, flexible, needle-like member configured to pierce at least a portion of the septal wall.
