Abstract

The description relates to auto-calendaring. One example can obtain content relating to a calendarable event. The example can also communicate the content to an auto-calendaring service. The example can also receive a response from the auto-calendaring service. The response can indicate that the calendarable event has been added to a calendar or can request further information about the calendarable event.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

obtaining content relating to a calendarable event;

communicating the content to an auto-calendaring service; and

,

receiving a response from the auto-calendaring service;

wherein the response indicates that the calendarable event has been added to a calendar or requests further information about the calendarable event.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the obtaining content comprises extracting text from the content and the communicating comprises communicating the text.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the obtaining content comprises obtaining a screen capture.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the obtaining a screen capture comprises performing the screen capture responsive to a user command to auto-calendar the content.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein in an instance where the response requests further information about the calendarable event, further comprising obtaining the further information from a user and supplying the further information to the auto-calendaring service.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the calendaring service is resident on a user device that performs the obtaining, the communicating, and the receiving.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the calendaring service is remote from a user device that performs the obtaining, the communicating, and the receiving.

8. At least one computer-readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that when executed by a computing device cause the computing device to perform acts, comprising:

obtaining a data item from a user;

extracting text from the data item;

analyzing the text to identify at a first confidence level whether the text includes a potential event;

determining at a second confidence level whether the potential event relates to a known event;

identifying at a third confidence level whether the potential event matches an event profile of the user; and

,

taking an action on behalf of the user based upon the first, second, and third confidence levels.

9. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8, wherein the obtaining comprises obtaining from the user via text or email.

10. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8, wherein the data item comprises a text, an email, a video, a document, or an image.

11. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8, wherein the extracting comprises performing optical character recognition processing on the data item or performing voice recognition processing on the data item.

12. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8, wherein the analyzing comprises identifying at least some details of the potential event including what the potential event relates to, where the potential event occurs, or whom the potential event relates to.

13. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the determining comprises comparing the at least some details to search results produced by a search engine.

14. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the event profile includes previous events that the user has participated in and interests of the user, and wherein the identifying comprises determining a similarity score between the at least some details and the event profile.

15. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein in an instance where the first, second, and third confidence levels are above a predefined value, then the taking an action comprises automatically scheduling the potential event on a calendar associated with the user.

16. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein in an instance where the first, second, and third confidence levels are above a predefined value, but below a second higher predefined value, then the taking an action comprises tentatively scheduling the potential event on a calendar associated with the user and requesting a confirmation from the user.

17. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein in an instance where the first, second, and third confidence levels are below a predefined value, then the taking an action comprises requesting more information from the user.

18. A system, comprising:

a display;

storage having instructions stored thereon;

a processor configured to process the instructions to create a graphical user interface (GUI) on the display; and

,

the GUI comprising a calendarable event and a user-invokable auto-calendaring feature that when selected by the user, causes the calendarable event to be processed for addition to a calendar associated with the user, the GUI subsequently comprising an indication whether the calendarable event was added to the calendar associated with the user.

19. The system of claim 18, embodied on a single device.

20. The system of claim 19, wherein the single device comprises a mobile device.
