Abstract

Wall mounting assemblies and methods are disclosed. The assembly includes a bracket that has two frame members coupled at a hinge. Each frame member has a hook for engaging a recess or slot on a panel. The assembly further includes a panel that has edges that are configured to engage the edges of adjacent panels, without the need for tilting the panel to engage. Each panel has two slots for receiving the bracket. Bending the two frame members on the bracket causes the bracket'"'"'s hooks to lock into the slots on the panel.

Claims

1. A bracket for a wall mounting assembly, comprising:

a first frame member having a first hook that is sized and dimensioned to engage a first recess;

a second frame member having a second hook that is sized and dimensioned to engage a first recess; and

wherein the first frame member and second frame member are rotatably coupled at a hinge such that the second frame member is capable of moving between a first position and a second position;

wherein the first position engages the second hook with the second recess and the second position disengages the second hook with the second recess.

2. The bracket of claim 1, wherein the second frame member further comprises a handle portion angled with the second hook.

3. The bracket of claim 1, wherein the first frame member has an opening through which the second hook extends.

4. The bracket of claim 1, further comprising an elongated member coupled with and extending from the first frame member for hanging an object.

5. The bracket of claim 4, wherein the elongated member is removably coupled with the first frame member via a snap fitting.

6. The bracket of claim 1, wherein the first and second hooks are L-shaped.

7. The bracket of claim 1, further comprising a first cover and a second cover sized and dimensioned to cover a front side of the first and second frame members.

8. The bracket of claim 7, wherein the first and second covers slidably engage a first edge and a second edge of the first frame member.

9. The bracket of claim 1, wherein the first and second hooks are disposed on a back side of the first member and further comprising a third hook rotatably coupled with the first frame member and disposed on a front side of the first frame member.

18. A wall mounting assembly for mounting an object to a wall, comprising:

the bracket of claim 1; and

a panel of claim 10.

19. The wall mounting assembly of claim 18, wherein the first recess comprises the first T-shaped slot and the second recess comprises the second t-shaped slot.

10. A wall mounting assembly having a first panel, the first panel comprising:

a first major surface having a first angled slot, a first T-shaped slot, and a second T-shaped slot,

wherein the first angled slot is disposed near an edge of the first major surface;

wherein the first and second T-shaped slots are substantially parallel to one another and separated by a first distance;

a second major surface having a second angled slot disposed near an edge of the first major surface;

a first edge joining the first and second major surfaces at a first acute angle;

a second edge joining the first and second major surfaces at a second acute angle;

wherein the first edge is sized and dimensioned to engage the first angled slot and the second edge is sized and dimensioned to engage the second angled slot.

11. The panel of claim 10 wherein the first angle and second angle are substantially equal.

12. The panel of claim 10 wherein the first t-shaped slot is located proximate to the first edge and at a second distance from the first edge, and wherein the second t-shaped slot is located proximate to the second edge and at a third distance from the second edge.

13. The panel of claim 10 wherein the size, dimension, and shape of the first and second t-shaped slots are configured to engage a downward facing L-shaped hook and an upward facing l-shaped hook.

14. The panel of claim 10 wherein the first major surface further comprises a plurality of holes for receiving a plurality screw fasteners.

15. The panel of claim 10 wherein the second major surface has a channel substantially parallel to, and disposed between, the first and second T-shaped slots.

16. The panel of claim 10 further comprising a second panel substantially identical to the first panel such that a first edge of the second panel is sized and dimensioned to engage the first angled slot of the first panel, and a second edge of the second panel is sized and dimensioned to engage the second angled slot of the first panel.

17. The panel of claim 16 wherein engagement of the first edge of the second panel with the first angled slot of the first panel results in a hollow channel disposed between the first edge of the second panel and the first angled slot of the first panel.

20. A method of installing a wall mounting assembly, comprising the steps of:

fastening a first panel to a wall;

overlapping an edge of a second panel with an edge of the first panel;

pushing the second panel against the first panel;

moving the second panel in a first direction until the edge of the second panel engages a slot of the first panel.
