Abstract

Oil mist separator (1) for a crankcase ventilation for separating particles (2) from a fluid (3) guided from a first fluid line (14) to a deflector body device (20), with a device (10) for actively accelerating the fluid (3) in the first fluid line (14).

Claims

1. An oil mist separator (1) separating particles (2) from a particle laden fluid (3) released from a crankcase by ventilation, comprising:

a first fluid line (14) having an inlet end and an outlet end, the inlet end receiving the particle laden fluid(3);

a deflector body device (20) arranged at and spaced apart from the outlet end of the first fluid line (14);

a device operable to actively accelerate the particle laden fluid (3) entering the inlet end of the first fluid line (14) towards the outlet end of the first fluid line (14).

2. The oil mist separator (1) according to claim 1, wherein

the oil mist separator further comprises at least one fluid jet (4) discharging into the inlet end of the first fluid line (14);

wherein the device (10) for active acceleration is operable to accelerate the particle laden fluid (3) entering the inlet end of first fluid line (14) by the at least one fluid jet (4) discharging into the inlet end of the first fluid line (14).

3. The oil mist separator (1) according to claim 1, wherein

the device (10) comprises at least one propulsion jet nozzle (11) arranged at the outlet end of the second fluid line (15) and discharging fluid from the at least one fluid jet (4) into the first fluid line (14).

4. The oil mist separator (1) according to claim 3, wherein

the at least one propulsion jet nozzle (11) is designed such that fluid jet fluid in the at least one fluid jet (4) expands as it exits the at least one fluid jet (4) and enters the inlet end of first fluid line (14), the expansion of the fluid jet fluid accelerating the particle laden fluid (3) in the first fluid line (14).

5. The oil mist separator (1) according to one of claims 2, wherein

the second fluid line (15) has an inlet end fluidically coupled to a fluid jet fluid stream of a compressor and/or to a charge-air stream of a turbocharger.

6. The oil mist separator (1) according to one of claim 3, wherein

the first fluid line (14) includes at least one first fluid line nozzle (12) arranged proximate to the inlet end of the first fluid line (14);

wherein the propulsion jet nozzle (11) flows and/or extends into the first fluid line nozzle (12) of the first fluid line (14).

7. The oil mist separator (1) according to claim 6, wherein

the at least one first fluid line nozzle (12) has a cross section tapering and narrowing in a fluid flow progression direction of the fluid (3) towards an outlet end of the at least one nozzle (12).

8. The oil mist separator (1) according to one of claim 6, wherein

the at least one first fluid line nozzle (12) of the device (10) is operable to deposit fluid particles (2) separated from the particle laden fluid (3) onto an interior wall (13) of the first fluid line (14).

9. The oil mist separator (1) according to one of claim 6, wherein

the oil mist separator (1) also comprises a housing device (31, 32, 33) in which the first fluid line (14), the second fluid line, the propulsion jet nozzle (11) and the at least one fluid jet (4) are arranged.

10. The oil mist separator (1) according to one of claim 8, wherein the oil mist separator (1) is operable to deposit the separated fluid particles (2) of an aerosol oil from an oil-laden gas as a fluid onto the interior wall (13).

11. The oil mist separator (1) according to claim 7, wherein:

the deflector body (20) includes a deflector plate (21) arranged at an outlet end of the first fluid line (14) and arranged to be impacted by fluid flowing from the outlet end of the first fluid line (14);

wherein the deflector plate (21) separates fluid particles (2) from the fluid in the first fluid line (14) by impact.

13. The method according to claim 12, wherein the method for operating an oil mist separator (1) is carried out according to claim 11.

12. A method for separating fluid particles (2) from a particle laden fluid (3) guided from a first fluid line (14) to a deflector body device (20), comprising:

actively accelerating the particle laden fluid (3) in the first fluid line (14);

separating fluid particles (2) from the particle laden fluid (3) with the aid of the deflector body device (20).
