Abstract

The composition and method for depositing and processing a solid transparent electrolyte polymerized by ultraviolet (UV) radiation are described. The electrolyte composition includes, at least, an ionic compound, a polymerizable material, a photoinitiator and a polar solvent. The electrolyte is deposited by printing techniques, such as inkjet printing.

Claims

1. Electrolyte solution, characterized by integrating:

ionic compounds between 0.1 and 7% w/w, selected from the group consisting of lithium perchlorate, lithium triflate, lithium tetrafluoroborate and lithium hexafluorophosphate;

monomers, oligomers or polymers with non-saturated sites, between 20 and 35% w/w, selected from the group consisting of poly(propylene glycol) diacrylate (PPGDA), trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA), and cyclic trimethylolpropane formal acrylate (CTFA);

photoinitiators between 0.05% and 15% w/w selected from the group consisting of phenylbis(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphine oxide, 1-hydroxy-cyclohexyl-phenyl-ketone, and 2-hydroxy-2-methyl-1-phenyl propanone; and

polar solvents between 40 and 75% w/w, selected from the group consisting of ethylene carbonate, propylene carbonate, dimethyl carbonate and acetonitrile.

Electrolyte solution, according to claim 1, characterized in that it additionally integrates ionic compounds selected from the group consisting of potassium triflate, potassium hexafluorophosphate, potassium tetrafluoroborate, potassium perchlorate, ammonium hexafluorophosphate and ammonium tetrafluoroborate.

Electrolyte solution, according to claim 1, characterized in that it additionally integrates monomers, oligomers or polymers with non-saturated sites, selected from the group consisting of ethoxylated trimethylolpropane triacrylate (EO-TMPTA), propoxylated trimethylolpropane triacrylate (PO-TMPTA), and pentaerythritol tetraacrylate (PETA).

4. Electrolyte solution, according to claim 1, characterized by integrating, alternatively to monomers, oligomers or polymers, between 5 and 30% w/w of polymers selected from the group consisting of polyethylene oxide-polypropylene oxide-allyl glycidyl ether (PEO-PPO-AGE).

5. Electrolyte solution, according to claim 1, characterized in that it additionally integrates polar solvents selected from the group consisting of ethyl acetate, tetrahydrofuran, gamma-butyrolactone, dimethylformamide, and 1,4-dioxane.

6. Electrolyte solution, according to claim 1, characterized by having a viscosity between 10 and 20 centiPoise.

7. Electrolyte solution, according to claim 1, characterized in that it additionally integrates electrochromic materials.

8. Electrochromic cell, characterized in that the electrolyte component is obtained by deposition of the solution according to claim 1.

9. Electrochromic cell, according to claim 8, characterized by the electrolyte component and the electrochromic component constituting a same homogeneous layer.

10. Method for printing the solution in claim 1, characterized by:

the printing method being inkjet;

the electric tension in the printhead nozzles being between 14 and 40 V;

the printing frequency being between 2-10 kHz;

the substrate temperature being between 20 and 60°

C.; and

the printing being cured by exposure to ultraviolet radiation.

11. Method, according to claim 10, characterized by comprising a pre-polymerization by ultraviolet radiation exposure after the deposition of each printed layer.

12. Method for printing an electrolyte, characterized in that

the printing method is inkjet;

the electric tension in the printhead nozzles is between 14-40 V;

the printing frequency is between 2-10 kHz;

the temperature of the substrate is between 20 and 60°

C.; and

the printing is cured by exposure to ultraviolet radiation.

13. Method, according to claim 12, characterized by comprising a pre-polymerization by exposure to ultraviolet radiation after the deposition of each printed layer.
