Abstract

The invention relates to a device for injection of a product into an injection site. The device including a needle shield for protection of a needle prior to use of the device; a housing; and a deshielder for removing the needle shield from the device. The deshielder is coupled to the needle shield and mounted on the housing in a separable manner. The deshielder may include tamper evidence features that are activated by the removal of at least one part of said deshielder. At least one part of the deshielder may be configured to be removed from the housing by exerting a force equal or less to 30 N.

Claims

1. A device for injection of a product into an injection site, comprising:

a housing capable of receiving a container;

a needle shield for protection of a needle provided on the container prior to use of said device; and

a deshielder for removing said needle shield from said device, said deshielder being engaged to said needle shield and mounted on the housing in a separable manner, wherein said deshielder comprises at least one protrusion that is deformed by a removal of at least one part of said deshielder thereby providing tamper evidence, wherein said at least one part of said deshielder can be removed from the housing by an axial force of 30 N or less.

2. A device according to claim 1, wherein said force ranges from 2 to 30 N.

A device according to claim 1, wherein said housing further comprises at least one peg and at least one window located on the deshielder and said protrusion extends into the window in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of said device, said peg being engaged into the window before the removal of at least one part of said deshielder, said peg being designed to deface said protrusion when said part of the deshielder is removed from the housing.

4. A device according to claim 3, wherein said window extends from the proximal end of the deshielder.

5. A device according to claim 1, wherein, in the removed state of the deshielder, the protrusion is defaced such that the deshielder is prevented from reattachment to the housing.

A device according to claim 1 wherein the housing further comprises a ratchet at a distal end of said housing, wherein said ratchet which interfaces with said protrusion comprising a pawl, said pawl extending inwardly into the ratchet, wherein a free proximal end of the protrusion is an abutment for a distal end of the housing after the removal of the deshielder from the housing, thereby preventing the deshielder from reattachment to the housing.

7. A device for injection of a product into an injection site, comprising:

a housing capable of receiving a container;

a needle shield for protection of a needle provided on the container prior to use of said device; and

a deshielder for removing said needle shield from said device, said deshielder being engaged to said needle shield and being mounted on the housing in a separable manner, wherein said deshielder comprises a plurality of protrusions that are deformed in a serial manner by a removal of at least one part of said deshielder thereby providing tamper evidence.

8. A device according to claim 7, wherein said deshielder is removed with a force between 2 N and 30 N.

9. A device according to claim 7, wherein, in the removed state of the deshielder, the protrusions are defaced such that the deshielder is prevented from reattachment to the housing.

10. A device according to claim 7, wherein said protrusions are frangible and said deformation is an elongation to break of said protrusions.

11. A device according to claim 9, wherein said protrusions are frangible and said deformation is an elongation to break of said protrusions.

12. A device for injection of a product into an injection site, comprising:

a housing capable of receiving a container;

a needle shield for protection of a needle provided on the container prior to use of said device; and

a deshielder for removing said needle shield from said device, said deshielder being engaged to said needle shield and being mounted on the housing in a separable manner, wherein said deshielder comprises at least one frangible connection to said housing, wherein said at least one frangible connection is broken by a removal of at least one part of said deshielder thereby providing tamper evidence, wherein said at least one part of said deshielder can be removed from the housing by exerting a force of less than 30 N or less.

13. A device according to claim 12, wherein said force ranges from 2 to 30 N.

14. A device according to claim 12, further comprising at least one cutting element located on the housing and able to cut the at least one frangible connection during the removal of the deshielder.

15. A device according to claim 12, wherein said at least one frangible connection is a plurality of frangible connections that are broken in a serial manner by said removal of at least one part of said deshielder.
