Abstract

A device may detect an event during execution of a particular application of the device. As part of detecting the event, the device may detect a closing of the particular application or may detect a calendar event. The device may identify a sequence of applications related to the event based on information identifying the event and may present graphical information identifying the sequence of applications. The device may detect selection of graphical information identifying another application from the graphical information identifying the sequence of applications, and may initiate the other application based on detecting the selection of the graphical information identifying the other application.

Claims

1. A device comprising:

a memory to store instructions;

one or more processors to execute the instructions to;

obtain information identifying a sequence of applications,

obtain information identifying an event occurring during execution of a particular application of the device,

the event being associated with the sequence of applications of the device, and

the event including;

a closing of the particular application of the device, or

a calendar event,

detect the event during the execution of the particular application of the device,

identify, based on detecting the event, the information identifying the sequence of applications,

the information identifying sequence of applications being identified based on the information identifying the event,

present particular information identifying the sequence of applications,

detect selection of information identifying an application from the particular information identifying the sequence of applications, and

initiate the application based on detecting the selection of the information identifying the application.

2. The device of claim 1, where, when detecting the event, the one or more processors are to detect the calendar event,

where, when detecting the calendar event, the one or more processors are to capture at least one of a current date or a current time, and

where, when identifying the information identifying the sequence of applications, the one or more processors are to identify information identifying an application associated with the least one of the current date or the current time.

3. The device of claim 2, where the one or more processors are further to:

initiate the application associated with the least one of the current date or the current time without detecting selection of the application associated with the least one of the current date or the current time.

4. The device of claim 1, where, when presenting the particular information identifying the sequence of applications, the one or more processors are further to:

present icons identifying applications of the sequence of application during execution of the initiated application,

the icons being interconnected to reflect the sequence of applications.

5. The device of claim 1, where the one or more processors are further to:

detect a swiping gesture during execution of the particular application, and

initiate, based on detecting the swiping gesture, a next application or a previous application relative to the particular application in the sequence of applications.

6. The device of claim 1, where the one or more processors are further to:

store in a data structure;

the information identifying the sequence of applications, and

the information identifying the event associated with the sequence of applications,

where, when detecting the event, the one or more processors are to detect a calendar event, and

where, when identifying the information identifying the sequence of applications, the one or more processors are to;

search the data structure using information identifying the calendar event, and

identify the information identifying the sequence of applications based on searching the data structure.

7. The device of claim 6, where, when searching the data structure, the one or more processors are to:

search the data structure using information identifying a particular date of the calendar event, information identifying a particular time of the calendar event, information identifying a particular day of the calendar event, a title of the calendar event, information identifying a location associated with calendar event, or information identifying one or more individuals associated with the calendar event.

8. The device of claim 1, where the device includes a tablet computer, a smart phone, a laptop, a gaming device, a personal digital assistant, or a personal computer.

9. A method comprising:

detecting, by one or more processors of a device, an event during execution of a particular application of the device,

detecting the event including one of;

detecting a closing of the particular application, or

detecting a calendar event;

identifying, by the one or more processors and based on detecting the event, a sequence of applications related to the event,

the sequence of applications being identified based on information identifying the event;

presenting, by the one or more processors, graphical information identifying the sequence of applications;

detecting, by the one or more processors, selection of graphical information identifying another application from the graphical information identifying the sequence of applications; and

initiating, by the one or more processors, the other application based on detecting the selection of the graphical information identifying the other application.

10. The method of claim 9, where identifying the information identifying the sequence of applications includes:

searching a data structure, using the information identifying the event, to identify the sequence of applications,

where the data structure stores information identifying a plurality of applications and a plurality of sequences of applications.

11. The method of claim 9, where detecting the event includes detecting the calendar event, and

where the information identifying the event includes information identifying a particular date of the calendar event, information identifying a particular time of the calendar event, information identifying a particular day of the calendar event, a title of the calendar event, information identifying a location associated with calendar event, or information identifying one or more individuals associated with the calendar event.

12. The method of claim 9, where the graphical information identifying the sequence of applications includes an icon identifying each application of the sequence of applications, and

where presenting the graphical information identifying the sequence of applications includes:

visually distinguishing the icon identifying the other application using a first format.

13. The method of claim 12, where the sequence of applications includes the particular application,

the method further comprising:

visually distinguishing the icon identifying the particular application using a second format that is different than the first format.

14. The method of claim 9, where detecting the event includes detecting the voice command,

the voice command indicating a closing of the particular application, the method further comprising:

presenting a portion of the graphical information identifying the sequence of applications during execution of the other application.

15. The method of claim 9, further comprising:

obtaining, prior to detecting the event, particular information that includes at least one of information identifying an amount of time during which the particular application is accessed, or information identifying a time at which the particular application and other applications are accessed,

where detecting the event includes;

detecting the closing of the application based on the particular information.

16. A computer-readable medium storing instructions, the instructions comprising:

one or more instructions which, when executed by one or more processors of a device, cause the one or more processors to;

detect an event during execution of a particular application of the device;

identify, based on detecting the event, a sequence of applications related to the event,

the sequence of applications being identified based on information identifying the event,

the sequence of applications including;

 

the particular application, and

 

other applications of the device; and

present information identifying the sequence of applications,

the information identifying the sequence of applications including graphical information identifying each application of the sequence of applications,

the one or more instructions to present the information identifying the sequence of applications including;

one or more instructions to visually distinguish, using a first format, the graphical information identifying the particular application, and

one or more instructions to visually distinguish, using a second format different than the first format, the graphical information identifying another application that follows the particular application in the sequence of applications.

17. The computer-readable medium of claim 16, where the instructions further comprise:

one or more instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to;

detect selection of the graphical information identifying the other application; and

initiate the other application based on detecting the selection of the graphical information identifying the other application.

18. The computer-readable medium of claim 16, where the one or more instructions to identify the sequence of applications include:

one or more instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to search a data structure, using the information identifying the event, to identify the sequence of applications,

where the data structure stores information identifying a plurality of applications and a plurality of sequences of applications.

19. The computer-readable medium of claim 18, where the event includes a calendar event, and

where the one or more instructions to search the data structure include:

one or more instructions to search the data structure using one or more of information identifying a particular date of the calendar event, information identifying a particular time of the calendar event, information identifying a particular day of the calendar event, a title of the calendar event, information identifying a location associated with calendar event, or information identifying one or more individuals associated with the calendar event.

20. The computer-readable medium of claim 16, where the instructions further comprise:

one or more instructions to automatically initiate the other application after expiration of a particular period of time after presenting the information identifying the sequence of applications.
