Abstract

Described herein are frameworks, devices and methods configured for enabling display for facility information and content, in some cases via touch/gesture controlled interfaces. Embodiments of the invention have been particularly developed for allowing an operator to conveniently access a wide range of information relating to a facility via, for example, one or more wall mounted displays. While some embodiments will be described herein with particular reference to that application, it will be appreciated that the invention is not limited to such a field of use, and is applicable in broader contexts.

Claims

1. A computer implemented method for sharing content, the method including:

displaying a touch/gesture driven user interface that is rendered on a display screen coupled to a first terminal, wherein the user interface includes;

a map layer including image data representative of a facility, wherein the user interface is navigated by way of pan and zoom operations defined with respect to the map layer; and

one or more content control objects superimposed on the map layer, wherein each content control object is configured to enable launching of a content display object, wherein the content display object associated with a building resource;

observing a “

throw”

gesture made by an operator in respect of a given content display object;

based on trajectory data associated with the “

throw”

gesture, identifying a target device, being a device connected to a common server as the firs terminal; and

providing a first signal to the common server thereby to instruct the server to provide a second signal to the target device thereby to cause the target device to display the given content item.

2. A method according to claim 1 wherein each control object includes data indicative of:

a display position defined relative to the map layer;

a building system resource to which the control object is bound; and

data for enabling rendering of functional menu items for the control object.

A method according to claim 1 wherein a given content control object is bound to a specific surveillance camera, and configured such that interaction with the content control object launches a content display object including a video display object of predetermined size adjacent the content control object and overlaid on the map layer.

A method according to claim 1 wherein a given content control object is bound to a specific surveillance camera, and configured such that interaction with the content control object launches a content display object including a video display object of predetermined size adjacent the content control object and overlaid on the map layer.

6. A method according to claim 1 wherein a given content control object is bound to a specific surveillance camera, and configured such that its associated secondary display object includes a video display object.

4. A computer implemented method for sharing content, the method including:

displaying a touch/gesture driven user interface that is rendered on a display screen coupled to a first terminal, wherein the user interface includes;

a map layer including image data representative of a facility, wherein the user interface is navigated by way of pan and zoom operations defined with respect to the map layer; and

one or more content control objects superimposed on the map layer, wherein each content control object is configured to enable launching of a content display object, wherein the content display object associated with a building resource;

wherein the user interface includes a control object that is configured to provide a command thereby to display, on a second display screen, secondary display objects respectively associated with those content control objects that are currently visible on the displayed portion of the map layer.

7. A computer system configured to deliver data to a client device, thereby to enable the client device to perform a method including:

displaying a touch/gesture driven user interface that is rendered on a display screen coupled to a first terminal, wherein the user interface includes;

a map layer including image data representative of a facility, wherein the user interface is navigated by way of pan and zoom operations defined with respect to the map layer; and

one or more content control objects superimposed on the map layer, wherein each content control object is configured to enable launching of a content display object, wherein the content display object associated with a building resource;

observing a “

throw”

gesture made by an operator in respect of a given content display object;

based on trajectory data associated with the “

throw”

gesture, identifying a target device, being a device connected to a common server as the firs terminal; and

providing a first signal to the common server thereby to instruct the server to provide a second signal to the target device thereby to cause the target device to display the given content item.

8. A method according to claim 7 wherein each control object includes data indicative of:

a display position defined relative to the map layer;

a building system resource to which the control object is bound; and

data for enabling rendering of functional menu items for the control object.

A method according to claim 7 wherein a given content control object is bound to a specific surveillance camera, and configured such that interaction with the content control object launches a content display object including a video display object of predetermined size adjacent the content control object and overlaid on the map layer.

10. A computer system configured to deliver data to a client device, thereby to enable the client device to perform a method including:

displaying a touch/gesture driven user interface that is rendered on a display screen coupled to a first terminal, wherein the user interface includes;

a map layer including image data representative of a facility, wherein the user interface is navigated by way of pan and zoom operations defined with respect to the map layer; and

one or more content control objects superimposed on the map layer, wherein each content control object is configured to enable launching of a content display object, wherein the content display object associated with a building resource;

wherein the user interface includes a control object that is configured to provide a command thereby to display, on a second display screen, secondary display objects respectively associated with those content control objects that are currently visible on the displayed portion of the map layer.

A method according to claim 10 wherein a given content control object is bound to a specific surveillance camera, and configured such that interaction with the content control object launches a content display object including a video display object of predetermined size adjacent the content control object and overlaid on the map layer.

12. A method according to claim 10 wherein a given content control object is bound to a specific surveillance camera, and configured such that its associated secondary display object includes a video display object.
