Abstract

A method of call arbitration includes connecting a vehicle computing system to a remote phone system. The vehicle computing system is used to transmit a pre-recorded or dynamically generated message to the remote phone system. The vehicle computing system also receives an outgoing message spoken in the vehicle to the remote phone system. The pre-recorded or dynamically generated message and the outgoing message are combined into a first signal for relay to the remote phone system as a single message. The vehicle computing system receives an incoming spoken message from the remote phone system. Finally, the received incoming message and the pre-recorded or dynamically generated message are combined into a second signal for playback as a single message through a vehicle audio system.

Claims

1. A system comprising:

a processor configured to;

utilize a wirelessly connected mobile device to establish communication with an emergency operator;

detect a likely mobile device disconnection state that would result in communication termination; and

transfer critical emergency information to the emergency operator regardless of instructions from the emergency operator, responsive to the likely disconnection state.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the processor is configured to detect a mobile device power level.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein a likely mobile device disconnection state includes a detected low power level below a predetermined threshold.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the processor is configured to determine a signal strength between the processor and the mobile device.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein a likely mobile device disconnection state includes a determine signal strength below a predetermined threshold.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the critical emergency information is transferred as one or more data packets.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the critical emergency information is transferred as voice information.

8. A computer-implemented method comprising:

utilizing a wirelessly connected mobile device to establish communication with an emergency operator;

detecting a likely mobile device disconnection state that would result in communication termination; and

transferring critical emergency information to the emergency operator regardless of instructions from the emergency operator responsive to the likely disconnection state.

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising detecting a mobile device power level.

11. The method of claim 8, further comprising determining a signal strength between the processor and the mobile device.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein a likely mobile device disconnection state includes a determine signal strength below a predetermined threshold.

13. The method of claim 8, wherein the critical emergency information is transferred as one or more data packets.

14. The method of claim 8, wherein the critical emergency information is transferred as voice information.

19. The method of claim 8, wherein the critical emergency information is transferred as one or more data packets.

20. The method of claim 8, wherein the critical emergency information is transferred as voice information.

10. The method of claim 10, wherein a likely mobile device disconnection state includes a detected low power level below a predetermined threshold.

15. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed, cause a processor to perform a method comprising:

utilizing a wirelessly connected mobile device to establish communication with an emergency operator;

detecting a likely mobile device disconnection state that would result in communication termination; and

transferring critical emergency information to the emergency operator regardless of instructions from the emergency operator responsive to the likely disconnection state.

16. The storage medium of claim 15, wherein the method further comprises detecting a mobile device power level.

17. The storage medium of claim 16, wherein a likely mobile device disconnection state includes a detected low power level below a predetermined threshold.

18. The storage medium of claim 15, wherein the method further comprises determining a signal strength between the processor and the mobile device, and wherein a likely mobile device disconnection state includes a determine signal strength below a predetermined threshold.
