Abstract

Athletic performance monitoring and tracking may provide multiple ways in which to track athletic movement and activity. Workouts may also be tagged with various parameters including mood, weather, terrain, athletic equipment, friends used and the like. Workout information may be shared to social messaging and networking outlets. Workout information shared may include map information including images of maps, interactive maps, links to maps, route information and the like and/or combinations thereof. Additionally or alternatively, an application may be configured to execute within a context of a social networking system to facilitate athletic activity data transfer and generation of workout entries in the social networking site.

Claims

1. An apparatus comprising:

a processor; and

memory storing computer readable instructions that, when executed, cause the apparatus to;

receive, from an athletic activity monitoring system, athletic activity data recorded during athletic activity performed by a first user;

receive, from a computing device, communication data from one or more other users;

receive input data indicating an acknowledgement of the received communication data; and

in response to receiving the input data, generate a response communication, including generating a message on a network page of a social networking site, wherein the message is viewable by at least one other user.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a display device, and wherein the computer readable instructions, when executed, further cause the apparatus to:

display, on the display device, the communication data from the one or more other users.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the communication data includes at least one of text, audio, an image, or a video.

4. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein the communication data includes at least an image associated with the one or more other users that transmitted the communication data.

5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the apparatus comprises a wrist-worn device.

6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the computer readable instructions, when executed, further cause the apparatus to:

transmit, to an audio device, audio content based at least in part on the received communication data.

7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the computing device comprises a mobile terminal.

8. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising one or more user interface elements, and wherein receiving input data indicating acknowledgment of the received communication data includes:

receiving user input selection via the one or more user interface elements.

9. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the generated message comprises at least one of a social network message, a text message, an electronic mail message, an image, or video.

10. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a sensor configured to detect a physical movement of the first user, and wherein the computer readable instructions, when executed, further cause the apparatus to:

process output from the sensor to provide control input to the apparatus in accordance with one or more physical gestures of the first user during the athletic activity.

11. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein a first physical gesture performed by the first user generates control input corresponding to a first type of message, and wherein a second physical gesture performed by the first user generates control input corresponding to a second type of message.

12. A method, comprising:

receiving, at a wrist-worn device, athletic activity data indicating athletic activity performed by a first user;

receiving, from a computing device, communication data from one or more other users;

receiving input data indicating an acknowledgement of the received communication data; and

in response to receiving the input data, generating a response communication, including generating a message on a network page of a social networking site, wherein the message is viewable by at least one other user.

13. The method of claim 12, further comprising:

display, on a display device, the communication data from the one or more other users.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein the communication data includes at least one of text, audio, an image, or a video.

15. The method of claim 12, wherein the communication data includes at least an image associated with the one or more other users that transmitted the communication data.

16. The method of claim 12, further comprising.

transmitting, to a portable audio device, audio content based at least in part on the received communication data.

17. The method of claim 12, further comprising:

receiving user input selection, via a user interface elements on the wrist-worn device, indicating acknowledgment of the received communication data;

18. The method of claim 12, wherein the generated message comprises at least one of a social network message, a text message, an electronic mail message, an image, or video.

19. The method of claim 12, wherein the wrist-worn device includes a sensor configured to detect a physical movement of the first user, the method further comprising:

processing, by a processor, output from the sensor to provide control input to the wrist-worn device in accordance with one or more physical gestures of the first user during the athletic activity.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein a first physical gesture performed by the first user generates control input corresponding to a first type of message, and wherein a second physical gesture performed by the first user generates control input corresponding to a second type of message.
