Abstract

A mobile terminal including a wireless communication unit configured to perform wireless communication; a display unit configured to display a first screen layer including first screen information; and a controller configured to display a second screen layer including second screen information such that at least part of the first and second screen layers overlap, and activate one of the first and second screen layers for receiving a touch input.

Claims

1. A mobile terminal comprising:

a wireless communication unit configured to perform wireless communication;

a display unit configured to display a first screen layer including first screen information; and

a controller configured to;

display a second screen layer including second screen information such that at least part of the first and second screen layers overlap, and

activate one of the first and second screen layers for receiving a touch input.

2. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the first screen layer is displayed at least partially overlapping the second screen layer, and the second screen information displayed on a region that overlaps the first screen layer can be seen through the first screen layer.

3. The mobile terminal of claim 2, wherein the first screen layer covers the second screen layer, and the first screen layer is transparent so the first and second screen information included in the first and second screen layers can been seen at the same time.

4. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to automatically activate the second screen layer and deactivate the first screen layer, when the second screen layer is displayed.

5. The mobile terminal of claim 4, wherein the controller is further configured to deactivate the second screen layer and activate the first screen layer based on a user input.

6. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein controller is further configured to activate the second screen layer and deactivate the first screen layer,

wherein the second screen information includes an icon for executing an application, and

wherein the controller is further configured to display an application execution screen on the second screen layer in response to receiving a touch action of the icon through the first screen layer overlapping the second screen layer.

The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to display the second screen layer based on a preset input including any one of a) pressing a hardware key on the mobile terminal, b) shaking the mobile terminal, c) touching an icon in a status area of the mobile terminal, d) a touch and drag on the display unit, e) a long touch on the display unit, f) a selection of a specific region on the first screen layer, and g) a selection of a link to additional information.

8. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to:

analyze the first screen information, and

display the second screen information on the second screen layer based on the analyzed first screen information.

9. The mobile terminal of claim 8, wherein the second screen information includes icons for executing applications related to the analyzed first screen information.

The mobile terminal of claim 9, wherein the second screen information includes any one of a) a map icon for displaying a map related to the analyzed first screen information, b) a schedule icon for scheduling an event related to the analyzed first screen information, and c) a search icon for searching additional information related to the analyzed first screen information.

11. The mobile terminal of claim 8, wherein the second screen information includes an outgoing call function when the analyzed first screen information includes call log information.

12. The mobile terminal of claim 8, wherein the second screen information includes at least one of a map function and a search function when the analyzed first screen information includes location information.

13. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to:

extract data from the first screen information included in the first layer, and

input the extracted data into an input window included in the second screen information of the second screen layer.

14. The mobile terminal of claim 13, wherein the controller is further configured to automatically input the extracted data into the input window, or input the extracted data based on a user'"'"'s selection.

15. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to store at least one of the first screen information and the second screen information separately in an image format based on a user'"'"'s selection, or store the overlapping first and second screen layers in the image format.

16. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to:

display multiple image objects including different first screen information that may be displayed on the first screen layer based on a user'"'"'s request for changing the first screen information that is displayed on the first screen layer, and

switch displaying the first screen information to the different first screen information based on selection of a corresponding image object.

17. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to display a third screen layer as overlapping at least one portion of the first and second screen layers for creating a memo corresponding to a touch trace on the second screen information.

18. The mobile terminal of claim 17, wherein the controller is further configured to stop displaying at least one of the first, second, and third screen layers based on a predetermined-type touch with respect to the display unit.

19. A method of controlling a mobile terminal, the method comprising:

displaying, via a display unit of the mobile terminal, a first screen layer including first screen information;

displaying, via the display unit, a second screen layer including second screen information such that at least part of the first and second screen layers overlap; and

activating, via a controller of the mobile terminal, one of the first and second screen layers for receiving a touch input.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the first screen layer is displayed at least partially overlapping the second screen layer, and the second screen information displayed on a region that overlaps the first screen layer can be seen through the first screen layer.
