Abstract

A method includes obtaining content at a mobile device, determining information associated with at least one wireless networking functionality of the mobile device responsive to user input, and providing the content and determined information to at least one server for insertion into a specified application-based information channel. Another method includes receiving, at a server from a mobile device, content for insertion into a specified application-based information channel, receiving, at the server from the mobile device, information associated with at least one wireless network functionality of the mobile device, and integrating the content and the information associated with said at least one wireless network functionality of the mobile device into the specified application-based information channel.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

obtaining content at a mobile device;

determining information associated with at least one wireless networking functionality of the mobile device responsive to user input; and

providing the content and determined information to at least one server for insertion into a specified application-based information channel.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the application-based information channel comprises a personalized content application.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the application-based information channel comprises a collaborative workspace.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein the application-based information channel comprises a chat channel.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the application-based information channel comprises an Internet storefront.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the information associated with said at least one wireless networking functionality of the mobile device comprises location information of the mobile device.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein the information associated with said at least one wireless networking functionality of the mobile device comprises information specifying at least one location-based service action implementable over said at least one wireless network.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein the information associated with said at least one wireless networking functionality of the mobile device comprises information specifying at least one messaging action implementable over said at least one wireless network.

9. The method of claim 1 wherein the information associated with said at least one wireless networking functionality of the mobile device comprises information specifying at least one collaboration action implementable over said at least one wireless network.

10. The method of claim 1 wherein determining the information associated with said at least one wireless networking functionality of the mobile device comprises:

providing one or more content integration options to a user;

receiving user input selecting at least one of the content integration options; and

determining the information associated with said at least one wireless network functionality of the mobile device in accordance with the selected content integration options.

11. The method of claim 1 wherein providing the one or more content integration options to the user comprises providing a subset of a plurality of content integration options to the user, the subset being based in part on wireless networking functionalities available at the mobile device.

12. The method of claim 1 wherein the information associated with said at least one wireless network functionality of the mobile device comprises information associated with a billing system accessible to the mobile device via said at least one wireless network.

13. The method of claim 1 wherein at least a portion of said content is obtained from a device-captured data source of the mobile device, the device-captured data source comprising a source of at least one of device-captured video data, device-captured audio data and device-captured location coordinates.

14. The method of claim 1 wherein the mobile device comprises at least one of a mobile telephone, a tablet computer and a camera.

15. The method of claim 1 wherein the mobile device comprises a global positioning system (GPS)-based navigational device.

16. The method of claim 1 wherein the mobile device comprises a watch or other timepiece.

17. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having embodied therein executable code of one or more software programs, wherein said executable program code when executed by a processing element of the mobile device causes the mobile device to perform the method of claim 1.

18. A mobile device comprising:

at least one processing element comprising a processor coupled to a memory; and

at least one network interface;

said at least one processing element being configured to;

obtain content;

determine information associated with at least one wireless networking functionality of the mobile device responsive to user input; and

provide, via said at least one network interface, the content and determined information to at least one server for insertion into a specified application-based information channel.

19. A method comprising:

receiving, at a server from a mobile device, content for insertion into a specified application-based information channel;

receiving, at the server from the mobile device, information associated with at least one wireless network functionality of the mobile device; and

integrating the content and the information associated with said at least one wireless network functionality of the mobile device into the specified application-based information channel.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein integrating the content and the information associated with said at least one wireless networking functionality of the mobile device comprises:

obtaining location information of the mobile device; and

inserting additional content into the specified application-based information channel based on the obtained location information.

21. The method of claim 20 wherein said additional content comprises advertising content.

22. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having embodied therein executable code of one or more software programs, wherein said executable program code when executed by a processing element of the server causes the server to perform the method of claim 19.

23. A server comprising:

at least one processing element comprising a processor coupled to a memory; and

at least one network interface;

said at least one processing element being configured to;

receive, from a mobile device, content for insertion into a specified application-based information channel;

receive, from the mobile device, information associated with at least one wireless network functionality of the mobile device; and

integrate the content and the information associated with said at least one wireless network functionality of the mobile device into the specified application-based information channel.
