Abstract

A method and apparatus for selecting multiple transport formats and transmitting multiple transport blocks (TBs) in a transmission time interval simultaneously with multiple hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) processes in a wireless communication system are disclosed. Available physical resources and H-ARQ processes associated with the available physical resources are identified and channel quality of each of the available physical resources is determined. Quality of service (QoS) requirements of higher layer data to be transmitted are determined. The higher layer data is mapped to at least two H-ARQ processes. Physical transmission and H-ARQ configurations to support QoS requirements of the higher layer data mapped to each H-ARQ process are determined. TBs are generated from the mapped higher layer data in accordance with the physical transmission and H-ARQ configurations of each H-ARQ process, respectively. The TBs are transmitted via the H-ARQ processes simultaneously.

Claims

1. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) configured to receive multiple transport blocks (TB) in transmission time interval (TTI), the WTRU comprising:

a transmitter for sending a channel quality indicator (CQI) feedback message including a CQI for each of a plurality of sets of sub-carriers;

a receiver for receiving an allocation of radio resource that includes at least two sets of physical resources;

the receiver further configured to receive a plurality of transport blocks (TBs) in a transmission time interval (TTI) using the two sets of physical resources;

wherein each set of physical resources has associated hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) process information, a modulation and coding scheme (MCS), transport block size, and redundancy version;

the transmitter is further configured to transmit an indication that at least one of the TBs was not received; and

the receiver is further configured to receive a retransmission of the at least one of the TBs that was not received.

2. The WTRU of claim 1 wherein each CQI represents an MCS.

3. The WTRU of claim 1 wherein each set of physical resources is for a different MIMO stream.

4. The WTRU of claim 3 wherein each MIMO stream is a spatial stream.

5. The WTRU of claim 1 wherein each set of physical resources is for a different set of sub-carriers.

6. The WTRU of claim 1 wherein each TB has an associated cyclic redundancy check (CRC).

7. The WTRU of claim 1 wherein the allocation of radio resources is based on the CQI feedback message.

8. A method for receiving multiple transport blocks (TB) in transmission time interval (TTI), the method comprising:

sending channel quality indicator (CQI) feedback message including a CQI for each of a plurality of sets of sub-carriers;

receiving an allocation of radio resource that includes at least two sets of physical resources;

receiving a plurality of transport blocks (TBs) in a transmission time interval (TTI) using the two sets of physical resources;

wherein each set of physical resources having an associated hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) process information, a modulation and coding scheme (MCS), transport block size, and redundancy version;

transmitting an indication that at least one of the TBs was not received; and

receiving a retransmission of the at least one of the TBs that was not received.

9. The method of claim 8 wherein each CQI represents an MCS.

10. The method of claim 8 wherein each set of physical resources is for a different MIMO stream.

11. The method of claim 10 wherein each MIMO stream is a spatial stream.

12. The method of claim 8 wherein each set of physical resources is for a different set of sub-carriers.

13. The method of claim 8 wherein each TB has an associated cyclic redundancy check (CRC).

14. The method of claim 8 wherein the allocation of radio resources is based on the CQI feedback message.

15. An evolved NodeB (eNB) comprising:

a receiver configured to receive a channel quality indicator (CQI) feedback message for each of a plurality of sets of sub-carriers;

a transmitter configured to transmit an allocation of radio resource that includes at least two sets of physical resources;

the transmitter is further configured to transmit a plurality of transport blocks (TBs) in a transmission time interval (TTI) using the two sets of physical resources;

wherein each set of physical resources having an associated hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) process information, a modulation and coding scheme (MCS), transport block size, and redundancy version;

the receiver is further configured to receive an indication that at least one of the TBs was not received; and

the transmitter is further configured to transmit the at least one TB.

16. The eNB of claim 15 wherein each CQI represents an allowed MCS.

17. The eNB of claim 15 wherein each set of physical resources is for a different MIMO stream.

18. The eNB of claim 17 wherein each MIMO stream is a spatial stream.

19. The eNB of claim 15 wherein each set of physical resources is for a different set of sub-carriers.

20. The eNB of claim 15 wherein each TB has an associated cyclic redundancy check (CRC).

21. The eNB of claim 15 wherein the allocation of radio resources is based on the CQI feedback message.
