Abstract

A vehicle-mounted apparatus is disclosed which includes a displaying unit for providing information to a user, an inputting unit for inputting operations carried out by the user, and a controlling unit for controlling a display of the displaying unit based on the operations input through the inputting unit. The inputting unit has at least a touch-sensitive panel attached to a display screen of the displaying unit. The controlling unit causes the displaying unit to display a menu screen based on the operations input through the inputting unit. The controlling unit also causes the displaying unit to switch the displays based on menus selected on the menu screen. Furthermore, the controlling unit causes the displaying unit to switch, as when a specific menu is selected on the menu screen, the displays in response to a fingertip gesture made by the user for detection on the touch-sensitive panel.

Claims

1. An electronic device comprising:

circuitry configured to

execute a first process (scroll photos) in response to a first received gesture input (drag) when a first image (first photo) corresponding to a first application program (photo application) is displayed on a display; and

execute a second process (scroll song/display “

delete”

icon), which is different from the first process (scrolling the photos), in response to receiving a second gesture (drag) that is a same type as the first gesture when a second image (song list) corresponding to a second application program (music application), which is different from the first application program, is displayed on the display, wherein

the first and second gestures are gestures in which an object is moved along at least one of a clockwise or counterclockwise arc, a substantially rectangle, or a substantially straight line.

2. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein

the first application program is a photo application, which when executed by the circuitry, causes the display to display an photo image based on still image data.

3. The electronic device of claim 2, wherein

the second application program is a music application program, which when executed by the circuitry, causes the circuitry to output an audio signal based on music content data.

4. The electronic device of claim 3, wherein

the second image includes an index of music content data.

5. The electronic device of claim 4, wherein

the circuitry configured to execute a third process (scrolling map), which is different from the first process and the second process, in response to receiving a third gesture (drag) that is a same type of gesture as the first and second gestures when a third image (map) corresponding to a third application program, which is different from the first and second application programs, is displayed on the display.

6. The electronic device of claim 5, wherein

the third application program is a map application, which when executed by the circuitry, causes the circuitry to display a map image on the display.

7. The electronic device of claim 6, wherein

the first process is a process of moving a display position of the photo image on the display.

8. The electronic device of claim 7, wherein

the third process is a process of scrolling the map image on the display screen.

9. The electronic device of claim 8, wherein

the second process is a process of switching a content item for outputting an audio signal.

10. The electronic device of claim 9, wherein

the first, second and third gestures are detected based on a detection of a touch input corresponding to the display.

11. The electronic device of claim 10, further comprising:

the display; and

a touch sensor disposed on, under or formed integrally with the display, wherein

the first, second and third gestures are received based on a detection result of the touch sensor.

12. The electronic device of claim 11, wherein

the object is a finger of a user.

13. The electronic device of claim 12, wherein

the first process is executed when the first gesture is received at a position corresponding to a portion of the display that displays the photo image.

14. The electronic device of claim 13, wherein

the second process is executed when the second gesture is received at a position of the display that displays an image corresponding to the music content data.

15. The electronic device of claim 14, wherein

the third process is executed when the third gesture is received at a position of the display that displays the map image.

16. The electronic device of claim 2, further comprising:

an interface configured to communicate with a memory card removably attached to the interface, wherein

the circuitry is configured to control recording the still images from the memory card via the interface.

17. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein

the circuitry is configured to execute a navigation application and cause displaying map information during execution of the navigation application.

18. The electronic device of claim 17, wherein

the circuitry is configured to cause the display to display, as the map information, a two-dimensional (2D) map and a three-dimensional (3D) map.

19. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein

the first, second and third input operations are a touch gesture operation in which the substantially straight line is drawn by a finger of a user.

20. The electronic device of claim 2, wherein the circuitry is configured to, upon execution of the photo application:

cause displaying thumbnails of a plurality of image content data;

cause scrolling the thumbnails in response to the second gesture; and

cause displaying one image content data in response to a selection of one thumbnail.

21. The electronic device of claim 2, wherein the circuitry is configured to, upon execution of the photo application:

cause displaying thumbnails of a plurality of image content data;

cause displaying one image content data in response to a selection of a thumbnail; and

cause displaying a next image content data of the displayed image content data in response to the second gesture.

22. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the circuitry is configured to:

cause displaying a predetermined menu item; and

cause switching to a previously displayed screen in response to an input operation selecting the predetermined menu item.

23. The electronic device of claim 1, further comprising:

an interface configured to connect to an external device and receive electric power and data via the interface.

24. The electronic device of claim 1, further comprising:

an interface configured to communicate with a memory card removably attached to the interface.

25. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein

the circuitry is configured to receive a broadcast television signal and cause reproducing content based on the received broadcast television signal.

26. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein

the circuitry is configured to receive an instruction from a device remote from the electronic device corresponding to an input operation received at the device remote from the electronic device to control an operation of the electronic device.

27. The electronic device of claim 1, further comprising:

a wireless local area network (LAN) interface, wherein

the circuitry is configured to control transmission and reception of data via the wireless LAN interface.

28. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein

the circuitry is configured to identify a position of the electronic device based on received Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) signals.

29. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein

the circuitry is configured to receive traffic information and cause the display to display information corresponding to the received traffic information.

30. The electronic device of claim 1, further comprising:

an interface configured to communicate with a television, wherein

the circuitry is configured to cause data to be transmitted to the television via the interface.

31. The electronic device of claim 1, further comprising:

an interface configured to connect to a vehicle, wherein

the circuitry is configured to cause data to be transmitted to the vehicle via the interface.

32. A method performed by an electronic device, the method comprising:

executing, by circuitry of the electronic device, a first process in response to a first received gesture input when a first image corresponding to a first application program is displayed on a display; and

executing, by the circuitry, a second process, which is different from the first process, in response to receiving a second gesture that is a same type as the first gesture when a second image corresponding to a second application program, which is different from the first application program, is displayed on the display, wherein

the first and second gestures are gestures in which an object is moved along at least one of a clockwise or counterclockwise arc, a substantially rectangle, or a substantially straight line.

33. A non-transitory computer-readable medium including computer program instructions, which when executed by circuitry, cause the circuitry to:

execute a first process in response to a first received gesture input when a first image corresponding to a first application program is displayed on a display; and

execute a second process, which is different from the first process, in response to receiving a second gesture that is a same type as the first gesture when a second image corresponding to a second application program, which is different from the first application program, is displayed on the display, wherein

the first and second gestures are gestures in which an object is moved along at least one of a clockwise or counterclockwise arc, a substantially rectangle, or a substantially straight line.
