Abstract
An online coupon source can create mappings between UPCs and consumers. The mapped UPCs can then be provided to the consumers'"'"' mobile devices for display during checkout. After a retailer system scans a mapped UPC during checkout, it sends the mapped UPC to the online coupon source. The online coupon source uses the mapped UPC to identify the consumer and to retrieve the consumer'"'"'s applicable coupons for use during checkout. Once a mapped UPC has been used to retrieve coupons, the mapped UPC can be unmapped to allow the UPC to be mapped to another consumer. A retailer system can send a mapped UPC in response to a tender type being selected during checkout.
