Abstract

A method and system to determine the size of a first area on a user interface that is utilized to display data items. The system receives a request for a user interface that includes a first area and a second area that are complementary in size. The system utilizes the first area utilized to display data items and the second area to display other information. The system determines a size of the first area by computing a number of data items that are to be displayed in the first area and generates the user interface to include the first area in the second area, the first area being of the determined size.

Claims

1. A method including:

presenting a first display over a network to a computer system, the first display including a first plurality of data items, the presenting of the first display further including at least one display element responsive to previously identifying a quantity of a second plurality of data items as being greater than a determined threshold, the second plurality of data items previously being identified based on a query;

receiving a selection from the computer system, the selection identifying the at least one display element that is selectable to display a third plurality of data items; and

presenting the third plurality of data items.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the presenting the third plurality of data items includes presenting a second display including the third plurality of data items.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the determined threshold is a configurable value.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one display element includes a first browsing set.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the first browsing set includes a browsing concept that is associated with a plurality of browsing values.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the plurality of browsing values are respectively selectable to display different portions of the second plurality of data items.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the plurality of browsing values are respectively associated with a plurality of counts that present a number of data items associated with the browsing value.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the first browsing set is identified based on a query.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the first display further includes a button that is selectable to display a second browsing set.

10. A system comprising:

at least one hardware processor;

a determining module including instructions that are executable by at least one hardware processor; and

a search application including instructions that are executable by at least one hardware processor to present a first display over a network to a computer system, the first display including a first plurality of data items, the first display further including at least one display element responsive to a previous identification of a quantity of a second plurality of data items as greater than a determined threshold, as identified by the determining module, the second plurality of data items previously identified based on a query, the search application to receive a selection from the computer system, the selection identifies the at least one display element that is selectable to display a third plurality of data items, the search application to present the third plurality of data items.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the search application presents a second display, and wherein the second display includes the third plurality of data items.

12. The system of claim 10, wherein the determined threshold is a configurable value.

13. The system of claim 10, wherein the at least one display element includes a first browsing set.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the first browsing set includes a browsing concept that is associated with a plurality of browsing values.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the plurality of browsing values are respectively selectable to display different portions of the second plurality of data items.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the plurality of browsing values are respectively associated with a plurality of counts that present a number of data items associated with the browsing value.

17. The system of claim 10, wherein the first browsing set is identified based on a query.

18. The system of claim 10, wherein the first display further includes a button that is selectable to display a second browsing set.

19. A machine-readable medium not comprising transitory propagating signals and storing instructions that, when executed by a machine, cause the machine to execute steps including:

presenting a first display to a computer system, the first display including a first plurality of data items, the first display further including at least one display element responsive to previously identifying a quantity of a second plurality of data items as being greater than a determined threshold, the second plurality of data items previously being identified based on a query;

receiving a selection from the computer system, the selection identifying the at least one display element that is selectable to display a third plurality of data items; and

presenting the third plurality of data items.

20. The machine-readable medium of claim 19, wherein the presenting the third plurality of data items includes presenting a second display including the third plurality of data items.
