Abstract

The disclosure relates to systems and methods for targeted messaging, workflow management, and digital rights management for geofeeds, including content that is related to geographically definable locations and aggregated from a plurality of social media or other content providers. The system may facilitate targeted messaging to users who create content. The targeted messaging may be based on the content (or location related to the content) such as a request for additional information or a promotional message. The system may generate workflows that allow management of the content with respect to operational processes of an entity that wishes to use the content and facilitates the management of usage rights related to the content as well as payments related to such usage rights. For example, the system may store whether content requires permission to use the content and/or whether such permission was obtained and facilitates payment.

Claims

1. A system for managing workflows related to geofeeds, the system comprising:

one or more processors configured to execute one or more computer program modules, the one or more computer program modules comprising;

a workflow module configured to;

receive a workflow request comprising an identification of at least one content item and an indication of an operational process to be performed in relation to the at least one content item, the at least one content item being obtained from one or more of a plurality of content providers based on a request formatted specifically for individual ones of the plurality of content providers;

generate a workflow item based on the workflow request, the workflow item representing the operational process to be performed in relation to the at least one content item;

associate the workflow item with a description of the operational process to be performed;

store the workflow item and the association; and

provide the stored workflow item and the description of the operational process to be performed.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the workflow module is further configured to:

obtain an identification of a resolver that is to resolve the workflow item; and

assign the workflow item to the resolver.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the operational process to be performed comprises a process to request approval of the at least one content item to be used in an online asset by the resolver, and wherein the workflow module is further configured to store an indication that indicates whether the at least one content item has been approved by the resolver.

4. The system of claim 3, wherein the workflow module is further configured to:

cause use of the at least one item to be prevented or allowed based on the indication that indicates whether the at least one content item has been approved by the resolver.

5. The system of claim 2, wherein the workflow module is further configured to:

obtain the identification of the resolver based on the workflow item request, one or more user roles, or one or more user relationships.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the operational process to be performed comprises a process to obtain permission from a content owner to use the at least one content item and wherein the workflow module is further configured to store an indication that indicates whether permission was granted by the content owner.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein the workflow module is further configured to:

cause use of the at least one item to be prevented or allowed based on the indication that indicates whether permission was granted by the content owner.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the operational process to be performed comprises a process to annotate the at least one content item, and wherein the workflow module is further configured to:

receive one or more annotations to the at least one content item, the one or more annotations comprising information related to the at least one content item; and

store the one or more annotations in association with the at least one content item.

9. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

a unified message module configured to;

generate one or more targeted messages based on the workflow item; and

cause the one or more targeted messages to be communicated.

10. A system of targeted messaging based on content items from one or more of a plurality of content providers, the system comprising:

one or more processors configured to execute one or more computer program modules, the one or more computer program modules comprising;

a unified message module configured to;

obtain an identification of at least one content item, the at least one content item being obtained from one or more of a plurality of content providers based on a request formatted specifically for individual ones of the plurality of content providers and is relevant to one or more geographically definable locations;

identify one or more users that is associated with the at least one content item;

generate one or more targeted messages to be communicated to the identified one or more users based on the at least one content item; and

cause the one or more targeted messages to be communicated to the identified one or more users.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein the unified message module is configured to:

identify the user based on a social media account associated with the at least one content item.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the unified message module is configured to:

cause the one or more targeted messages to be communicated to the social media account of the identified one or more users.

13. The system of claim 10, wherein the one or more targeted messages are based on a geo-location associated with the at least one content item.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the one or more targeted messages include a request to the identified user to provide additional content, and wherein the unified message module is further configured to:

receive from the identified one or more users the additional content.

15. The system of claim 10, wherein the unified message module is further configured to:

store an exchange of communications to and from the identified one or more users; and

provide the stored exchange of communications.

16. The system of claim 10, wherein the unified message module is further configured to:

broadcast a poll to the one or more users, the poll being related to the at least one content item or a geo-location of the at least one content item.

17. The system of claim 10, wherein the unified message module is further configured to:

obtain a message template from among a plurality of message templates, wherein the message template includes at least one formatting instruction; and

generate the one or more targeted messages based on the message template.

18. The system of claim 17, wherein the plurality of message templates correspond to individual ones of types of messages to be communicated.

19. The system of claim 10, wherein the unified message module is further configured to:

determine a geo-location of the identified one or more users based on the at least one content item; and

communicate the one or more targeted messages based on the determined geo-location.

20. A system for providing a clearinghouse for content, comprising:

one or more processors configured to execute one or more computer program modules, the one or more computer program modules comprising;

a memory configured to;

store one or more requirements to use at least one content item, wherein the one or more requirements are to be satisfied before the at least one content item may be used;

a clearinghouse module configured to;

receive a request for content;

identify at least one content item based on the request for content, wherein the at least one content item is obtained from one or more of a plurality of content providers based on a request formatted specifically for individual ones of the plurality of content providers, is relevant to one or more geographically definable locations, and is subject to the one or more requirements;

obtain the one or more requirements;

communicate the one or more requirements;

receive an indication that the one or more requirements are satisfactory and that the at least one content item is desired; and

facilitate provision of the at least one content item and satisfaction of the one or more requirements.

21. The system of claim 20, wherein the clearinghouse module is configured to provide the at least one content item to thereby facilitate provision of the at least one content item.

22. The system of claim 20, wherein the clearinghouse module is configured to facilitate payment of a fee to use the at least one content item to thereby facilitate satisfaction of the one or more requirements.

23. The system of claim 20, wherein the clearinghouse module is configured to provide an attribution notice to accompany the at least one content to thereby facilitate satisfaction of the one or more requirements.

24. The system of claim 20, wherein the request for content comprises a location parameter specifying that content that is relevant to the one or more geographically definable locations is desired, and wherein the at least one content item is identified based on the location parameter.

25. The system of claim 20, wherein the request for content comprises a subject matter parameter specifying that content that is relevant to a particular subject matter is desired, and wherein the at least one content item is identified based on a subject matter of the at least one content item.
