15. A method for developing an industrial instrument, the industrial instrument comprising one or more of an hardware peripheral, method comprising the steps of:

receiving a user program input by a user, the user program including at least one or more pre-defined real-time variables (PRVs) in a program controller; compiling the user program into a set of instruction code; reading and executing the instruction code in a sequential manner in the program controller; accessing by the instruction code the at least one or more PRVs; transferring the instruction code to the industrial instrument coupled to the program controller; reading and executing the transferred instruction code sequentially by the industrial instrument; and synchronizing one or more PRVs in the industrial instrument with the respective hardware peripheral and the at least one or more PRVs in the program controller. - View Dependent Claims (16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
