Abstract

A server may receive provisioning information for a client device; provision, based on the provisioning information, the client device to prepare the client device to gather data to form a data record and communicate with a user device, via the server, to receive or transmit information relating to the data record; and receive a communication request from the user device via a first network. The communication request may include a request to transmit the information relating to the data record to or from the client device. The server may communicate with the client device via a second network, on behalf of the user device, to process the communication request based on authorizing the user device. The second network may be different from the first network. The server may provide a response to the communication request to the user device. The response may include the information relating to the data record.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving, by a server, provisioning information for a client device;

provisioning, by the server and based on the provisioning information, the client device to prepare the client device to gather data to form a data record and communicate with a user device, via the server, to receive or transmit information relating to the data record;

receiving, by the server, a communication request from the user device via a first network,

the communication request including a request to transmit the information relating to the data record to or from the client device;

communicating, by the server, with the client device via a second network, on behalf of the user device, to process the communication request,

the second network being different from the first network; and

providing, by the server, a response to the communication request to the user device,

the response to the communication request including the information relating to the data record.

2. The method of claim 1, where the first network is an unmanaged network and the second network is a service provider network associated with the client device or the server,

the method further comprising:

regulating access to the second network or the client device by the user device.

3. The method of claim 1, where the client device is a machine-to-machine (M2M) device.

4. The method of claim 1, where the server is a first server,

where communicating with the client device includes providing the communication request to a second server to cause the second server to communicate with the client device to process the communication request and provide the response to the communication request to the first server,

where providing the response to the user device is based on receiving the response from the second server.

5. The method of claim 1, where communicating with the client device is based on authorizing the user device.

6. The method of claim 1, where the information relating to the data record includes a control instruction to adjust a sensor or metering device used to gather the data to form the data record.

7. The method of claim 1, where the information relating to the data record includes information identifying authorized users that may communicate with the client device to receive the data record.

8. The method of claim 1, where the information relating to the data record includes a transmission instruction that identifies quality of service policies for a bearer used to transmit the data record or information identifying application devices that may receive the data record to process the data record.

9. A system comprising:

a server to;

receive provisioning information for a client device;

provision, based on the provisioning information, the client device to prepare the client device to gather data for a data record and communicate with a user device, via the server, to receive or transmit information relating to the data record;

receive a communication request from the user device via a first network,

the communication request including a request to transmit the information relating to the data record to or from the client device;

authorize the user device based on receiving the communication request;

communicate, based on authorizing the user device, with the client device via a second network, on behalf of the user device, to process the communication request,

the second network being different from the first network;

provide a response to the communication request to the user device,

the response to the communication request including the information relating to the data record.

10. The system of claim 9, where the first network is an unmanaged network and the second network is a service provider network associated with the client device or the server,

where the server is further to:

regulate access to the second network or to the client device by the user device.

11. The system of claim 9, where the client device is a machine-to-machine (M2M) device.

12. The system of claim 9, where the server is a first server,

where when communicating with the client device, the first server is further to provide the communication request to a second server to cause the second server to communicate with the client device to process the communication request and provide the response to the communication request to the first server,

where when providing the response to the user device, the first server is to provide the response to the user device based on receiving the response from the second server.

13. The system of claim 9, where the information relating to the data record includes information identifying authorized users that may communicate with the client device to receive the data record.

14. The system of claim 9, where the information relating to the data record includes a control instruction to adjust a sensor or metering device used to gather the data to form the data record.

15. The system of claim 9, where the information relating to the data record includes a transmission instruction that identifies quality of service policies for a bearer used to transmit the data record or information identifying application devices that may receive the data record to process the data record.

16. A computer-readable medium for storing instructions, the instructions comprising:

a plurality of instructions which, when executed by one or more processors associated with one or more devices, cause the one or more processors to;

receive provisioning information for a machine-to-machine (M2M) device;

provision, based on the provisioning information, the M2M device to prepare the M2M device to gather data for a data record and communicate with a user device, via the one or more devices, to receive or transmit information relating to the data record;

receive a communication request from the user device via a first network,

the communication request including a request to transmit the information relating to the data record to or from the M2M device;

authorize the user device based on receiving the communication request;

communicate with the M2M device via a second network, on behalf of the user device, to process the communication request based on authorizing the user device,

the second network being different from the first network; and

provide a response to the communication request to the user device,

the response to the communication request including the information relating to the data record.

17. The computer-readable medium of claim 16, where the first network is an unmanaged network and the second network is a service provider network associated with the client device or the server,

where the plurality of instructions further cause the one or more processors to:

regulate access to the second network or to the client device by the user device.

18. The computer-readable medium of claim 16, where the one or more devices include a first server,

where one or more instructions, of the plurality of instructions, to communicate with the M2M device, further cause the one or more processors to provide the communication request to a second server to cause the second server to communicate with the M2M device to process the communication request and provide the response to the communication request to the first server,

where one or more instructions, of the plurality of instructions, to provide the response to the user device, further cause the one or more processors to provide the response to the user device based on receiving the response from the second server.

The computer-readable medium of claim 16, where the information relating to the data record includes a request for the data record or a transmission instruction that identifies quality of service policies for a bearer used to transmit the data record or information identifying application devices that may receive the data record to process the data record.

20. The computer-readable medium of claim 16, where the information relating to the data record includes a control instruction to adjust a sensor or metering device used to gather the data to form the data record.
