Abstract

Identifying content in an incoming message on a social network includes categorizing a sender-recipient relationship between a sender and a recipient of an incoming message in an activity stream in a display.

Claims

1. A method for identifying content in an incoming message on a social network, comprising:

categorizing a sender-recipient relationship between a recipient and a sender of an incoming message in an activity stream in a display.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising categorizing a content of said incoming message.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining a degree of sender attitude about said incoming message.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein said degree of said sender attitude is a positive attitude or a negative attitude.

5. The method of claim 3, further comprising combining said sender-recipient relationship and said degree of said sender attitude to determine a message impact on said recipient.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising generating a recommendation based on said incoming message.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein generating said recommendation based on said incoming message includes referencing a source to assist said recipient in accomplishing said recommendation.

8. The method of claim 6, wherein generating said recommendation based on said incoming message includes displaying said recommendation in said display.

9. The method of claim 6, wherein generating said recommendation based on said incoming message includes providing an option to display additional details of said recommendation in said display.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein categorizing said sender-recipient relationship of said incoming message in said activity stream includes categorizing multiple relationships with said sender.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein categorizing said sender-recipient relationship of said incoming message in said activity stream including determining whether said sender-recipient relationship is a positive relationship or a negative relationship.

12. A method for identifying content in an incoming message on a social network, comprising:

categorizing a sender-recipient relationship between a sender and a recipient of an incoming message in an activity stream in a display;

categorizing a content of said incoming message;

determining a degree of sender attitude about said incoming message; and

generating a recommendation based on said incoming message.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein said degree of said sender attitude is a positive attitude or a negative attitude.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein categorizing said sender-recipient relationship with said recipient of said incoming message in said activity stream includes categorizing multiple sender-recipient relationship relationships between said sender and said recipient.

15. The method of claim 12, further comprising combining said sender-recipient relationship and said degree of said sender attitude to determine a message impact on said recipient.

16. The method of claim 12, wherein generating said recommendation based on said incoming message includes displaying said recommendation in said display.

17. A method for identifying content in an incoming message on a social network, comprising:

categorizing a sender-recipient relationship between a sender and a recipient of an incoming message in an activity stream in a display;

categorizing a content of said incoming message; and

generating a recommendation based on said incoming message.

18. The method of claim 17, further comprising determining a degree of sender attitude about said incoming message.

19. The method of claim 17, further comprising combining said sender-recipient relationship and a degree of a sender attitude to determine a message impact on said recipient.

20. The method of claim 17, wherein generating said recommendation based on said incoming message includes displaying said recommendation in said display.
