A method for operating at least one light-emitting diode (LED) (5, 6) by a switching regulator circuit (20), which is in the form of a buck converter and to which an input voltage (VDC) is supplied, and which provides, by at least one switch (1) which is clocked by a control unit (10), an output voltage (VOUT) for supplying current, voltage or electric power which is constantly regulated at least when averaged over time to the at least one light-emitting diode (5, 6), wherein the setpoint value for the LED current, voltage or power is adjustable for dimming, the method comprising:
- varying the control parameters of the control loop for the LED current, the LED voltage or the LED power depending on the operating mode of the switching regulator circuit (20).

The invention relates to a method for the operation of at least one light emitting diode (5, 6) by means of a switching regulator circuit (20) preferably designed as a step-down converter, to which an input voltage (VDC) is supplied and which provides, by means of at least one switch (1) clocked by a control unit (10), an output voltage (VOUT) for the supply of the at least one light emitting diode (5, 6) with current that is regulated to be constant at least in the temporal average, wherein the setpoint for the LED current is adjustable for the dimming, wherein the regulation parameters for the regulation loop for the LED current are changed depending on the operating mode of the switching regulator circuit (20).
