Abstract

Embodiments of the invention pertain to kiosks and home kits capable of providing authenticated health information for purposes of privacy, rewards, or incentives. In an embodiment of the invention, biometric measurement devices coupled with a communications infrastructure implement a system of secure information exchange and enhanced data security. In an embodiment of the invention, a user'"'"'s communications device such as a cell phone is wirelessly connected through or by the machine to a call center or other responder to allow for consultation when appropriate. In an embodiment of the invention, a security/verification system is built into the kiosk, so as to be able to verify a user'"'"'s identity.

Claims

1. A health measurement kiosk for measuring one or more resting health parameters of a user, the health measurement kiosk comprising:

a seat portion configured to support the user in a seated position;

a measurement tool configured to measure the one or more resting health parameters of the user;

a communication interface for communicating with a remote health service or health care provider; and

a processor configured to open a communication session between the user and the remote health service or health care provider.

2. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 1, wherein the one or more resting health parameters include one of blood pressure, blood oxygen, cardiac condition, cardiac arrhythmia, blood glucose and body mass index (BMI).

3. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 2, further comprising a scale configured to determine a user weight.

4. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 1, further comprising a one or more user identification modules selected from the group consisting of a retinal scanner, a facial recognition module, a palm print reader, a foot print scanner and a finger print reader.

5. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more resting health parameters includes BMI, and wherein the processor is further configured to offer a reward to an obese user who meets a predetermined BMI threshold and who has exhibited weight loss progress.

6. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 5, wherein the reward includes one or more of reimbursable counseling, discounts on health insurance, and a cash reward.

7. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to store user health information in an encrypted form available only to the user and third parties designated by the user.

8. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 1, wherein the processor is configured to open the communication session between the user and the remote health service or health care provider by linking a mobile communication device of the user to the remote health service or health care provider, using near field communications between the kiosk and the mobile device.

9. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 1, further comprising an application loaded on the communication device of the user, wherein the processor is configured to employ the application to link the mobile communication device of the user to the remote health service or health care provider via streaming video or digital messaging.

10. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 9, wherein the application has access to user payment information to allow payment from the user to the remote health service or health care provider.

11. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 9, wherein the application is configured to display advertising on the device.

12. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 1, wherein the remote health service or health care provider is one of a call center and a health care practitioner.

13. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 1, further comprising a user interface screen, and wherein the processor is configured to open the communication session between the user and the remote health service or health care provider by:

presenting on the user interface screen a selectable element for opening such a link, and receiving a user selection of the selectable element.

14. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 12, wherein the processor is further configured to present the selectable element when the measured health parameters indicate a potential health problem and wherein the remote health service or health care provider is compensated by the user'"'"'s insurance.

15. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 1, wherein the processor is configured to open the communication session between the user and the remote health service or health care provider as one of voice over IP and a video conference.

16. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 1, wherein the remote health service or health care provider is configured to refer the user to a physician for follow up care, and to collect a referral fee based on such referral.

17. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 13, wherein the processor is configured to display an advertisement to the user via the user interface screen or via a user device.

18. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 1, wherein the processor is configured to interact with a social media account associated with the user.

19. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 1, further comprising a camera as a deterrent to cheating.

20. The health measurement kiosk in accordance with claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to provide an advertisement including three or more types of stimulus selected from the group consisting of visual stimulus, motion stimulus, audio stimulus, and scent stimulus.

21. A portable health measurement home kit for measuring one or more resting health parameters of a user, the health measurement kiosk comprising:

a measurement tool configured to measure the one or more resting health parameters of the user;

a communication interface for communicating with a remote health service or health care provider; and

a processor configured to open a communication session between the user and the remote health service or health care provider.

22. The portable health measurement home kit in accordance with claim 21, wherein the one or more resting health parameters include blood pressure, blood oxygen, cardiac condition, cardiac arrhythmia, blood glucose and body mass index.

23. The portable health measurement home kit in accordance with claim 21, further comprising a portable scale.

24. The portable health measurement home kit in accordance with claim 21, further comprising one of a drug testing capability and a cholesterol testing capability.

The portable health measurement home kit in accordance with claim 21, wherein the processor is configured to open the communication session between the user and the remote health service or health care provider by linking a mobile communication device of the user to the remote health service or health care provider, using near field communications between the home kit and the mobile device.

The portable health measurement home kit in accordance with claim 24, further comprising an application loaded on the communication device of the user, wherein the processor is configured to employ the application to link the mobile communication device of the user to the remote health service or health care provider via streaming video or digital messaging.

27. The portable health measurement home kit in accordance with claim 26, wherein the application has access to user payment information to allow payment from the user to the remote health service or health care provider.

28. The portable health measurement home kit in accordance with claim 21, wherein the remote health service or health care provider is one of a call center and a health care practitioner.

29. The portable health measurement home kit in accordance with claim 21, further comprising a user interface screen, and wherein the processor is configured to open the communication session between the user and the remote health service or health care provider by:

presenting on the user interface screen a selectable element for opening such a link, and 22 receiving a user selection of the selectable element.

30. The portable health measurement home kit in accordance with claim 29, wherein the processor is further configured to present the selectable element when the measured health parameters indicate a potential health problem.

31. The portable health measurement home kit in accordance with claim 21, wherein the remote health service or health care provider is compensated by the user'"'"'s insurance.

32. The portable health measurement home kit in accordance with claim 21, wherein the remote health service or health care provider is compensated by the user.

33. The portable health measurement home kit in accordance with claim 21, wherein the processor is configured to open the communication session between the user and the remote health service or health care provider via voice over IP.

39. A weight measurement station for measuring a weight of a user, the weight measurement station comprising:

a portion configured to support the user in one of a sitting and standing position and to determine the user'"'"'s weight;

a portion configured to determine the user'"'"'s identity;

a communication interface configured to communicate with a remote entity; and

a processor configured to open a communication session between the weight measurement station and the remote entity.
