1. A computer system comprising:
- a data processing unit;
a touch-sensitive, position-resolving input surface which has a data connection to the data processing unit; and
a freely movable input device which is used to touch the input surface for the purpose of providing input to the data processing unit,whereinsaid freely movable input device is a computer mouse which is provided with sensors for detecting relative position changes and has a data connection to the data processing unit, andsaid data processing unit calculates the position of the freely movable input device on the position-resolving input surface using both the absolut position data of the position-resolving input surface and the relative position data of the freely movable input device.

Abstract
A computer system that includes a data-processing unit, a touch-sensitive, position-resolving input surface in data communication with the data-processing unit, and a freely movable input device, by which the input surface is to be touched for the purpose of inputting into the data-processing unit. The freely movable input device is a computer mouse, which is in data communication with the data-processing unit. With comparatively low sensor complexity, inter alia, both the absolute position of the computer mouse and also subtle position changes of the computer mouse can therefore be very easily detected by the data-processing unit.

4. A method for operating a computer system comprising:
-
a data processing unit; a touch-sensitive, position-resolving input surface which has a data connection to the data processing unit; and a freely movable input device which is used to touch the input surface for the purpose of providing input to the data processing unit, said freely movable input device being a computer mouse which has a data connection to the data processing unit, wherein during input to the data processing unit, the absolute position of the computer mouse, as measured by the input surface, is compared at regular intervals of time with that position which is calculated from the results of the position information measured by the computer mouse, in that the two positions are assigned a third position jointly representing both positions by the data processing unit by means of mathematical interpolation, which third position is at a shorter distance from the two first positions than the distance between the two first positions, in that an input mark is assigned to this third position by the data processing system, and in that this third position is assumed to be the starting point for calculating the temporally next movement of the computer mouse.
