Abstract

In one embodiment, a method includes providing a show page for display on a display device of a user in response to a selection by the user of an entry in a programming guide displayed on the display device, determining that the show page has previously been claimed by a content owner, accessing a content-owner module provided by the content owner, and providing the content-owner module for display on the show page. The show page includes a plurality of modules, and the show page is associated with particular media content.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

by one or more computer systems of a social-networking system, providing a show page for display on a display device of a user in response to a selection by the user of an entry in a programming guide displayed on the display device, the show page comprising a plurality of modules, the show page associated with particular media content;

by the one or more computer systems of the social-networking system, determining that the show page has previously been claimed by a content owner;

by the one or more computer systems of the social-networking system, accessing a content-owner module provided by the content owner; and

by the one or more computer systems of the social-networking system, providing the content-owner module for display on the show page.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the content-owner module comprises one of:

a show description module comprising a description of the particular media content;

a voting module providing an interface for the user to vote for particular options related to the particular media content;

or

a sports module comprising sporting information associated with the particular media content.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the content-owner module comprises a user-selectable option that, once selected by the user, is operable to send information to the one or more computer systems associated with the content owner.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the content-owner module is operable to retrieve information from one or more computer systems associated with the content owner.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of modules are selected from:

an airings module comprising a time associated with the particular media content, a description of an episode of the particular media content, a channel number of the particular media content, and a user-selectable option to watch the particular media content;

a facepile module comprising an indication of other users of the social-networking system who have liked or viewed the particular media content;

an action bar module comprising one or more user-selectable options to like or share the particular media content;

a chat module providing an interface for the user to chat with other users of the social-networking system;

an advertisement module comprising one or more displayed advertisements;

a reviews module comprising an indication of a rating of the particular media content by other users of the social-networking system; and

a ratings module comprising either a user-selectable option to rate the particular media content, or, if the user has previously rated the particular media content, an indication of the previous rating of the particular media content by the user.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

by the one or more computer systems of the social-networking system, querying a social graph of the social-networking system for social content related to the show page, the social graph comprising a plurality of nodes and edges connecting the nodes, the nodes comprising user nodes that are each associated with a particular user of the social-networking system; and

by the one or more computer systems of the social-networking system, providing at least a portion of the social content for display in one or more of the plurality of modules;

wherein the social content comprises one or more of;

an indication of a number of other users of the social-networking system who have viewed the particular media content;

an indication of a number of other users of the social-networking system who have “

liked”

the particular media content;

an indication of a number of other users of the social-networking system who have shared the particular media content;

an indication of a rating of the particular media content by the user;

an indication of a rating of the particular media content by other users of the social-networking system;

or

a facepile.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the particular media content comprises one of:

a TV show;

a movie;

or

a sporting event.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

by the one or more computer systems of the social-networking system, determining an order in which to display the determined plurality of modules and the content-owner module on the show page.

9. One or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media in one or more computing systems of a social-networking system, the media embodying logic that is operable when executed to:

provide a show page for display on a display device of a user in response to a selection by the user of an entry in a programming guide displayed on the display device, the show page comprising a plurality of modules, the show page associated with particular media content;

determine that the show page has previously been claimed by a content owner;

access a content-owner module provided by the content owner; and

provide the content-owner module for display on the show page.

10. The media of claim 9, wherein the content-owner module comprises one of:

a show description module comprising a description of the particular media content;

a voting module providing an interface for the user to vote for particular options related to the particular media content;

or

a sports module comprising sporting information associated with the particular media content.

11. The media of claim 9, wherein the content-owner module comprises a user-selectable option that, once selected by the user, is operable to send information to the one or more computer systems associated with the content owner.

12. The media of claim 9, wherein the content-owner module is operable to retrieve information from one or more computer systems associated with the content owner.

13. The media of claim 9, wherein the particular media content comprises one of:

a TV show;

a movie;

or

a sporting event.

14. The media of claim 9, wherein the logic is further operable when executed to determine an order in which to display the determined plurality of modules and the content-owner module on the show page.

15. A system comprising:

one or more processors; and

a memory coupled to the one or more processors comprising instructions executable by the processors, the one or more processors being operable when executing the instructions to;

provide a show page for display on a display device of a user in response to a selection by the user of an entry in a programming guide displayed on the display device, the show page comprising a plurality of modules, the show page associated with particular media content;

determine that the show page has previously been claimed by a content owner;

access a content-owner module provided by the content owner; and

provide the content-owner module for display on the show page.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the content-owner module comprises one of:

a show description module comprising a description of the particular media content;

a voting module providing an interface for the user to vote for particular options related to the particular media content;

or

a sports module comprising sporting information associated with the particular media content.

17. The system of claim 15, wherein the content-owner module comprises a user-selectable option that, once selected by the user, is operable to send information to the one or more computer systems associated with the content owner.

18. The system of claim 15, wherein the content-owner module is operable to retrieve information from one or more computer systems associated with the content owner.

19. The system of claim 15, wherein the particular media content comprises one of:

a TV show;

a movie;

or

a sporting event.

20. The system of claim 15, the one or more processors being further operable when executing the instructions to determine an order in which to display the determined plurality of modules and the content-owner module on the show page.
