Abstract

An electronic device including a cover having a display protection function and a method thereof are provided. The method includes acquiring at least one of context information and attribute information of an application according to whether the cover is closed and displaying an object related to the acquired information on a region which is included or is not included in a region corresponding to the cover window of a display of the electronic device.

Claims

1. A method in an electronic device, the method comprising:

acquiring at least one of context information and attribute information of an application according to whether a cover is closed; and

displaying an object related to the acquired information on a region which is included or is not included in a region corresponding to a cover window of a display of the electronic device.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the object is displayed on a predetermined region along an edge of the region corresponding to the cover window of the display.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the object is displayed in the region corresponding to the cover window of the display.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein the object is displayed out of the region corresponding to the cover window of the display.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the object includes at least one of a color, a shape, a pattern, a size, a text, and an image.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the context information includes at least one of weather information, position information, screen brightness information, and battery information.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the attribute information of the application includes at least one of a kind of the application, a genre of the application, a level of the application, and an execution state of the application.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining whether the cover is closed using a magnetic sensor.

9. An electronic device comprising:

a display;

a cover, openably installed to cover at least a part of the display, including a cover window; and

a processor configured to apply a frame to a region corresponding to the cover window of the display according to whether the cover is closed.

10. The electronic device of claim 9, wherein the processor is configured to display a frame corresponding to at least one of context information and attribute information of an application at a time point when the cover is closed on the region corresponding to the cover window of the display.

11. The electronic device of claim 9, wherein the processor is configured to sense its input and generate a frame corresponding to at least one of context information and attribute information of an application.

12. The electronic device of claim 9, wherein the processor is configured to sense its input and edit a frame stored in its memory.

13. The electronic device of claim 9, wherein the processor is configured to display the frame on the inside or outside of the corresponding region along an edge of the region corresponding to the cover window of the display.

14. The electronic device of claim 9, wherein the processor is configured to set a resolution for the cover window region to use a region to which the frame is not applied on the cover window region as an output region.

The electronic device of claim 10, wherein the frame corresponding to the context information includes at least one of a frame including an object which expresses weather, a frame including an object which expresses a position, a frame including an object which expresses the remaining capacity of a battery, and a frame including an object which expresses display brightness.

16. The electronic device of claim 10, wherein the frame corresponding to the attribute information of the application includes at least one of a frame including an object which expresses a kind of the application, a frame including an object which expresses a level of the application, a frame including an object which expresses a genre of the application, and a frame including an object which expresses contents of the application.

17. The electronic device of claim 9, wherein the processor is configured to display a frame corresponding to contents included in a message received in a state where the cover is closed on the region corresponding to the cover window of the display.

18. The electronic device of claim 9 wherein the processor is configured to display a frame corresponding to recognition of an object of a preview screen output in a state where the cover is closed on the region corresponding to the cover window of the display.

19. The electronic device of claim 9 further comprising a magnetic sensor configured to determine if the cover is closed.

20. A computer-readable medium having stored thereon one or more programs comprising instructions for allowing an electronic device to perform a method of acquiring at least one of context information and attribute information of an application according to whether a cover is closed and displaying an object related to the acquired information on a region which is included or is not included in a region corresponding to the cover window of a display, when the instructions will be executed by the electronic device.

21. The computer-readable medium of claim 20, wherein an object related to the acquired information is displayed on a predetermined region along an edge of the region corresponding to the cover window of the display.
