Abstract

According to one embodiment, a user'"'"'s past content (e.g., pictures, movies, audio recordings) may be retrieved and pushed to the user'"'"'s mobile device in a real-time and in a contextually-relevant manner. The pushed content may also include contextually-relevant content of others with whom the user has established a relationship to share such content.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

establishing and storing a relationship of a first person with a second person, the relationship authorizing sharing of content between the first and second persons;

tracking at least a current location of a mobile device of the first person; and

when predetermined conditions are met and without interaction by the first person with the mobile device;

retrieving, over a computer network, selected contextually-relevant content from a storage of the second person; and

pushing, over the computer network, the retrieved content to the mobile device of the first person.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the storage of the second person comprises a Network Attached Storage (NAS) coupled to the computer network.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the storage of the second person comprises a Direct Attached Storage (DAS) device coupled to the NAS.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the retrieved content comprises at least one of audio content, video content and pictures.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein retrieving comprises retrieving only the selected content from the storage of the second person that has been authorized by the second person.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the retrieved content comprises content that includes the second person.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the retrieved content comprises content generated by the second person within a predetermined distance of the current location of the mobile device of the first person.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the retrieved content comprises content generated in the past by the second person within a predetermined distance of the current location of the mobile device of the first person.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising establishing and storing, at a request of the first person, a relationship with a third person.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising retrieving metadata along with the selected content and pushing the retrieved metadata to the mobile device of the first person.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the metadata includes a date and time at which the retrieved content was generated.

12. The method of claim 1, further comprising selectively retrieving content associated with an event that is relevant to the first person from the storage of the second person and pushing the retrieved content associated with the event to the mobile device of the first person.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein the established relationship is stored remotely from the mobile devices of the first and second persons.

14. The method of claim 1, further comprising rendering the pushed content on the mobile device of the first person.

15. The method of claim 1, wherein the retrieved content was previously generated by the second person within a predetermined distance of a current location of the mobile device of the first person.

16. The method of claim 1, wherein the predetermined conditions comprise a current location of the mobile device of the first person being within a predetermined distance of a current or past location of the mobile device of the second person.

17. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

retrieving selected contextually-relevant content from a storage of the first person; and

rendering the retrieved content on the mobile device of the first person.

18. A method, comprising:

establishing and storing a relationship of a first person with a second person, the relationship authorizing sharing of selected content between the first and second persons;

establishing an event associated with the first and second persons;

associating selected content of the second person with the event; and

when at least when a predetermined time period associated with the event has elapsed,

retrieving, over a computer network, selected content that is associated with the event from a storage of the second person, and

pushing, over the computer network, the retrieved content to the mobile device of the first person.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the predetermined time period comprises one of an anniversary, a week, a month and a year.

20. The method of claim 18, further comprising storing information relating to the event and wherein retrieving and pushing are carried out with reference to the stored information.

21. The method of claim 20, wherein the information includes at least one of time of the event, date of the event, participants in the event, season of the event, nature of the event and duration of the event.

22. The method of claim 18, further comprising:

retrieving selected content that is associated with the event from a storage of the first person; and

rendering the retrieved content on the mobile device of the first person.

23. A mobile device of a first person having established and registered a relationship with a second person, comprising:

a processor;

memory coupled to the processor, the memory being configured to store sequences of instructions which, when executed, cause the processor to;

enable a at least a current location of the mobile device to be tracked; and

when predetermined conditions are met and without interaction of the first person with the mobile device;

receive, over a computer network, selected content from a storage of the second person; and

render the received content on the mobile device of the first person.

24. The mobile device of claim 23, wherein the predetermined conditions comprise a current location of the mobile device of the first person being within a predetermined distance of a current or past location of the mobile device of the second person.

25. The mobile device of claim 23, wherein:

an event is associated with the first and second persons;

the selected content is associated with the event; and

the predetermined conditions comprise a determination that a predetermined time period associated with the event has elapsed.

26. The mobile device of claim 23, wherein the selected content is contextually relevant to the first person, relative to at least one of time, place and circumstances.

27. The mobile device of claim 23, wherein the storage of the second person comprises at least one of Network Attached Storage (NAS) and a Direct Attached Storage (DAS) device coupled to the computer network.

28. The mobile device of claim 23, wherein the selected content comprises at least one of audio content, video content and pictures.

29. The mobile device of claim 23, wherein the selected content comprises metadata.
