    a base oil,a succinimide compound, anda thioheterocyclic compound represented by (I);

    (I)whereAs represents a thioheterocycle;

    each of R1 and R2 independently represents a hydrogen atom, an amino group, a C1 to C50 hydrocarbyl group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an alkenyl group, a cycloalkenyl group, and an aryl group, or, in the case of a hydrocarbyl group, a C1 to C50 heteroatom-containing group having an atom selected from the group consisting of an oxygen atom, a nitrogen atom, and a sulfur atom; and

    each of k, l, m, and n is an integer of 0 to 5,whereinthe composition has a sulfur content of 0.10 mass % to 1.00 mass % based on the total amount of the composition, anda phosphorus content represented by P in mass % and a sulfated ash content represented by M in mass %, based on the total amount of the composition, satisfying any of the following conditions A to C;
