Abstract

A parking request text message is transmitted from a user mobile phone to a billing server and is forwarded to a parking server. The parking server makes a charge API call to the billing server, including a custom text, an amount to be billed and a msisdn of the mobile phone. The billing server charges an account at a carrier server corresponding to the msisdn, receives a charge confirmation from the carrier server, transmits a billing result to the parking server, and sends a confirmation text message to the user mobile phone with the custom text. The parking server updates a parking data structure to indicate that parking has been allotted based on a parking identification in the parking request text message.

Claims

1. A method of processing a payment for parking with a billing server comprising:

receiving, with the billing server, a charge Application Programmable Interface (API) call from a parking server at the billing server, the charge API call including a custom text, an amount to be billed and a Mobile Subscriber Integrated Services Digital Network-Number (msisdn);

charging, with the billing server, an account at a carrier server corresponding to the msisdn for an amount that is based on the amount in the charge API call;

transmitting, with the billing server, a billing result to the parking server to indicate that the account has been charged; and

transmitting, with the billing server, a parking confirmation text message to the user mobile phone at the msisdn, the parking confirmation text message including the custom text.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the custom text includes a parking identification that is included in the parking confirmation text.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the parking confirmation text includes an expiration time stamp for when the parking expires.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the custom text includes the expiration time stamp that is included in the parking confirmation text.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

transmitting, with the billing server, an authorization request text message to the user mobile phone at the msisdn; and

receiving, with the billing server, an authorization text message from the user mobile phone, wherein the account is only charged if the authorization text message is received by the billing server.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the authorization request text message is transmitted on a short code and the authorization text message is received on the short code.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the parking server receives a parking request text message on a long code, the charge API call being in response to the forwarding.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

identifying, with the billing server, a select carrier server from a plurality of carrier servers based on the msisdn, the charge being placed at the select carrier server.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

transmitting, with the billing server, a charge request to the carrier server; and

receiving, with the billing server, a charge confirmation from the carrier server, the billing server only transmitting billing result and the parking confirmation text after receiving the charge confirmation.

10. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having a set of instructions thereon that are executable by a processor of a computer to carry out a method of processing a payment for parking with a billing server comprising:

receiving, with the billing server, a charge Application Programmable Interface (API) call from a parking server at the billing server, the charge API call including a custom text, an amount to be billed and a Mobile Subscriber Integrated Services Digital Network-Number (msisdn);

charging, with the billing server, an account at a carrier server corresponding to the msisdn for an amount that is based on the amount in the charge API call;

transmitting, with the billing server, a billing result to the parking server to indicate that the account has been charged; and

transmit, with the billing server, a parking confirmation text message to the user mobile phone at the msisdn, the parking confirmation text message including the custom text.

11. A billing server for processing a payment for parking comprising:

a processor;

a computer-readable medium connected to the processor;

a set of instructions on the computer-readable medium, the set of instructions being executable by the processor and including;

a billing server charge method Application Programmable Interface (API) receiving a charge API call from the parking server at the billing server, the charge API call including a custom text, an amount to be billed and the msisdn;

a carrier billing module charging an account at the carrier server corresponding to the msisdn for an amount that is based on the amount in the charge API call, wherein the billing server charge method API transmits a billing result to the parking server to indicate that the account has been charged; and

a short message service (SMS) code processor transmitting a parking confirmation text message to the user mobile phone at the msisdn, the parking confirmation text message including the custom text.

12. The billing server of claim 11, wherein the custom text includes a parking identification that is included in the parking confirmation text.

13. The billing server of claim 11, wherein the parking confirmation text includes an expiration time stamp for when the parking expires.

14. The billing server of claim 13, wherein the custom text includes the expiration time stamp that is included in the parking confirmation text.

15. The billing server of claim 11, wherein the SMS code processor transmits an authorization request text message to the user mobile phone at the msisdn and receives an authorization text message from the user mobile phone, wherein the account is only charged if the authorization text message is received by the billing server.

16. The billing server of claim 15, wherein the SMS code processor is an SMS short code processor and the authorization request text message is transmitted on a short code and the authorization text message is received on the short code.

17. The billing server of claim 16, wherein the parking server receives a parking request text message on a long code, the charge API call being in response to the forwarding.

18. The billing server of claim 11, wherein the carrier billing module identifies a select carrier server from a plurality of carrier servers based on the msisdn, the charge being placed at the select carrier server.

19. The billing server of claim 11, wherein the carrier billing module transmits a charge request to the carrier server, and receives a charge confirmation from the carrier server, the billing result and the parking confirmation text only being transmitted after receiving the charge confirmation.
