Abstract

Method and apparatus for performing hybrid per station and per flow/connection uplink allocations are described. The apparatus may implement a hybrid per flow/connection and per station uplink (UL) resource allocation to improve UL control efficiency and UL resource utilization. The apparatus may be configured to transmit or receive a resource allocation in a signal that contains an indicator that indicates intended flow information.

Claims

1. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:

circuitry configured to transmit uplink data using at least one selected connection of a plurality of connections;

the circuitry further configured to receive a medium access control (MAC) control message which indicates deactivation of at least one of the plurality of connections for use in the transmission of the uplink data; and

the circuitry further configured to transmit the uplink data using at least one of the plurality of connections that is not deactivated.

2. The user equipment of claim 1, wherein the plurality of connections are IEEE 802.16 connections.

3. The user equipment of claim 1, wherein the circuitry is further configured to receive control information indicating an allocation of uplink resources for transmission of the uplink data on at least one of the plurality of connections that is not deactivated.

4. The user equipment of claim 3, wherein the allocation of uplink resources is for a single uplink transmission.

5. The user equipment of claim 3, wherein the allocation of uplink resources is for a persistent allocation.

6. The user equipment of claim 3, wherein the received control information indicates a connection to be used for transmission of the uplink data.

7. A method of transmitting uplink data from a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:

transmitting uplink data using at least one selected connection of a plurality of connections;

receiving a medium access control (MAC) control message which indicates deactivation of at least one of the plurality of connections for use in the transmission of the uplink data; and

transmitting the uplink data using at least one of the plurality of connections that is not deactivated.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the plurality of connections are IEEE 802.16 connections.

9. The method of claim 7, further comprising receiving control information indicating an allocation of uplink resources for transmission of the uplink data on at least one of the plurality of connections that is not deactivated.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the allocation of uplink resources is for a single uplink transmission.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein the allocation of uplink resources is for a persistent allocation.

12. The method of claim 9, wherein the received control information indicates a connection to be used for transmission of the uplink data.

13. An enhanced node-b (e-Node b) comprising:

circuitry configured to receive uplink data over at least one of a plurality of connections;

the circuitry further configured to transmit a medium access control (MAC) control message which indicates deactivation of at least one of the plurality of connections for use in transmission of the uplink data; and

the circuitry further configured to receive the uplink data over at least one of the plurality of connections that is not deactivated.

14. The e-Node b of claim 13, wherein the plurality of connections are IEEE 802.16 connections.

15. The e-Node b of claim 13, wherein the circuitry is further configured to transmit control information indicating an allocation of uplink resources for transmission of the uplink data on at least one of the plurality of connections that is not deactivated.

16. The e-Node b of claim 15, wherein the allocation of uplink resources is for a single uplink transmission.

17. The e-Node b of claim 15, wherein the allocation of uplink resources is for a persistent allocation.

18. The e-Node b of claim 15, wherein the transmitted control information indicates a connection to be used for transmission of the uplink data.
