Abstract

A method for reducing cross cell interference in a wireless time division duplex communication system using code division multiple access, the system having at least one user equipment (UE) and a base station (BS) is disclosed. The method begins by measuring an interference level of each timeslot at the BS. A timeslot is eliminated for additional uplink communication if the measured interference level exceeds a first threshold. UEs in nearby cells that are large interferers are identified and their downlink timeslot usage is gathered. A timeslot is eliminated for uplink communication for a large interferer UE that uses the timeslot for downlink communication.

Claims

1. A method for use by a wireless network device, the method comprising:

receiving, by the wireless network device, an indication for each of a plurality of resources associated with a plurality of user equipments (UE), wherein each indication includes an interference level value; and

scheduling, by the wireless network device, resources for the plurality of UEs based on each received indication.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the interference level value is determined using a threshold test.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving an indication for each of a plurality of resources associated with another neighboring wireless network device.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein, the wireless network device is a Node-B.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein, the wireless network device is a base station.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein, the interference level value includes a high, medium, or low value.

7. A wireless network device, the wireless network device comprising:

a receiver configured to receive an indication for each of a plurality of resources associated with a plurality of user equipments (UE), wherein each indication includes an interference level value; and

a resource allocation device configured to schedule resources for the plurality of UEs based on each received indication.

8. The wireless network device of claim 7, wherein the interference level value is determined using a threshold test.

9. The wireless network device of claim 7, further comprising:

the receiver further configured to receive an indication for each of a plurality of resources associated with another neighboring wireless network device.

10. The wireless network device of claim 7, wherein the wireless network device is a Node-B.

11. The wireless network device of claim 7, wherein the wireless network device is a base station.

12. The wireless network device of claim 7, wherein the interference level value includes a high, medium, or low value.
