Abstract

An audio demonstration kit encourages understanding of audio concepts by enabling children to construct and study speaker performance. In a particular embodiment, the audio demonstration kit includes a paper speaker and instructions. The paper speaker includes a backplate, a suspension, and a diaphragm cut from a single sheet of paper. The demonstration kit may feature an amplifier that is configurable to accommodate various hardware additions as a child is ready for more progressively challenging construction. For example, the amplifier of an embodiment allows single and dual mode operation, as well as drives a rotary motor and is coordinated with a strobe light. The amplifier of an embodiment is synchronized with the strobe light and a moveable platform to create the impression of that jiggling figures attached to the table are dancing. Interfaces with smart phone, recording, and other technologies further enhances and encourages the learning experience.

Claims

1. An audio demonstration kit comprising:

a paper speaker including;

a back support;

a suspension; and

a diaphragm,

wherein the back support, the suspension, and the diaphragm are cut from a single sheet of paper.

2. The audio demonstration kit of claim 1, wherein the single sheet of paper includes a set of instructions directing assembly of the paper speaker.

3. The audio demonstration kit of claim 2, further comprising a bobbin and a wire.

4. The audio demonstration kit of claim 3, wherein the bobbin comprises a cylinder bobbin.

5. The audio demonstration kit of claim 4, wherein the set of instructions includes instructions directing assembly of a wire coil by winding the wire around the bobbin.

6. The audio demonstration kit of claim 5, wherein the single sheet of paper indicates a location at which to attach the wire coil to the single sheet of paper.

7. The audio demonstration kit of claim 2, wherein the set of instructions includes an instruction to fold the single sheet of paper along a line indicated on the single sheet of paper.

8. The audio demonstration kit of claim 2, wherein the set of instructions includes an instruction to attach a first portion of the single sheet of paper to a second portion of the single sheet of paper.

9. The audio demonstration kit of claim 1, further comprising an amplifier that is connectable to the paper speaker.

10. The audio demonstration kit of claim 9, further comprising at least one cable configured to connect the amplifier to the paper speaker.

11. The audio demonstration kit of claim 10, wherein at least one end of the at least one cable includes an alligator clip.

12. The audio demonstration kit of claim 9, wherein the amplifier includes at least one connector that corresponds to at least one output audio channel.

13. The audio demonstration kit of claim 12, wherein the amplifier includes a first connector corresponding to a left audio channel and a second connector corresponding to a right audio channel.

14. The audio demonstration kit of claim 9, wherein the amplifier includes a tone control, a volume control, or a combination thereof.

15. The audio demonstration kit of claim 9, wherein the amplifier includes a connector configured to receive power from a power supply.

16. The audio demonstration kit of claim 9, wherein the amplifier includes an input configured to receive audio signals from an external device.

17. The audio demonstration kit of claim 1, further comprising a cylinder magnet.

18. The audio demonstration kit of claim 17, wherein the single sheet of paper indicates a location at which to attach the cylinder magnet to the single sheet of paper.

19. An audio demonstration kit comprising:

a magnet;

a bobbin;

a wire; and

a single sheet of paper, wherein the single sheet of paper is manipulable to form a paper speaker that is assembled by at least assembling a wire coil by winding the wire around the bobbin, attaching the wire coil to a first location on the single sheet of paper, attaching the magnet to a second location on the single sheet of paper, and folding the single sheet of paper to place the wire coil around the magnet.

20. An audio demonstration kit comprising:

a paper speaker including;

a back support;

a suspension; and

a diaphragm, wherein the back support, the suspension, and the diaphragm are cut from a single sheet of paper; and

an amplifier that is connectable to the paper speaker.
