Abstract

A method and apparatus for controlling devices for a smart home service are provided. The method includes grouping devices to receive at least one command simultaneously from among devices registered to the smart home service into a group for one mode, generating mode configuration information for each mode including grouped devices for the mode and at least one command for the mode, transmitting the mode configuration information for each mode to the registered devices, selecting one of each mode for which the mode configuration information has been generated, and transmitting a mode activation request for activating the selected mode to the registered devices.

Claims

1. A method for controlling devices for a smart home service, the method comprising:

grouping devices to receive at least one command simultaneously from among devices registered to the smart home service into a group for each mode;

generating mode configuration information for each mode;

transmitting the mode configuration information for each mode to the registered devices, the mode configuration information for each mode including grouped devices for the mode and at least one command for the mode;

selecting one of each mode for which the mode configuration information has been generated; and

transmitting a mode activation request for activating the selected mode to the registered devices.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the mode configuration information for each mode includes attribute information about the at least one command and Identifiers (IDs) of devices to execute the at least one command, and

wherein the attribute information includes information indicating an execution time of the at least one command and specific action information related to the at least one command.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving, from a device that has received the mode activation request, information indicating whether a command included in the mode activation request has been executed.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one of the mode configuration information for each mode and the mode activation request is relayed to the registered devices in a predetermined order.

5. A method for controlling devices for a smart home service, the method comprising:

determining, upon receipt of a mode activation request for activating a specific mode from a controller device, whether mode configuration information for the specific mode is included in pre-stored mode configuration information; and

executing, in the presence of the mode configuration information for the specific mode, a command indicated by the mode configuration information; and

transmitting a result of the command execution to the controller device.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising one of pre-storing the mode configuration information for each mode and acquiring the mode configuration information for each mode from the controller device.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein if the mode configuration information for each mode is acquired from the controller device, the mode configuration information for each mode is received from one of the devices by relaying in a predetermined order.

8. The method of claim 5, wherein the mode configuration information for each mode includes attribute information about at least one command and Identifiers (IDs) of devices to execute the at least one command, and

wherein the attribute information includes information indicating an execution time of the at least one command and specific action information related to the at least one command.

9. An apparatus for controlling devices for a smart home service, the apparatus comprising:

a controller configured to group devices to receive at least one command simultaneously from among devices registered to the smart home service into a group for each mode, to generate mode configuration information for each mode including grouped devices for the mode and at least one command for the mode, to control a transceiver to transmit the mode configuration information for each mode to the registered devices, to select one of each mode for which the mode configuration information has been generated, and to control the transceiver to transmit a mode activation request for activating the selected mode to the registered devices.

10. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the mode configuration information for each mode includes attribute information about the at least one command and Identifiers (IDs) of devices to execute the at least one command, and

wherein the attribute information includes information indicating an execution time of the at least one command and specific action information related to the at least one command.

11. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the transceiver receives, from a device that has received the mode activation request, information indicating whether a command included in the mode activation request has been executed.

12. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the controller is further configured to control the transceiver to relay at least one of the mode configuration information for each mode and the mode activation request to the registered devices in a predetermined order.

17. The device of claim 12, wherein the mode configuration information for each mode includes attribute information about at least one command and Identifiers (IDs) of devices to execute the at least one command, and

wherein the attribute information includes information indicating an execution time of the at least one command and specific action information related to the at least one command.

13. A device for a smart home service, the device comprising:

a controller configured to, upon receipt of a mode activation request for activating a specific mode from a controller device through a transceiver, determine whether mode configuration information for the specific mode is included in pre-stored mode configuration information, to execute a command indicated by the mode configuration information in the presence of the mode configuration information for the specific mode, and to control the transceiver to transmit a result of the command execution to the controller device.

14. The device of claim 13, wherein the mode configuration information for each mode is one of pre-stored and received from the controller device through the transceiver.

15. The device of claim 14, wherein if the mode configuration information for each mode is acquired from the controller device, the mode configuration information for each mode is received from one of the devices through the transceiver by relaying in a predetermined order.

16. The device of claim 15, wherein the predetermined order received in the mode configuration information comprises one of a current device and a next device and a list of each device in order.
