Abstract

An approach for integrating network elements and providing media processing services, which includes generating at least one integration interface for integrating at least one network element into a media processing platform. The approach also includes determining access information associated with the at least one network element, generating a master parameters list for the at least one network element for use in a processing of a media content item, and communicating the master parameters list via the at least one integration interface to the at least one network element.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

generating at least one interface in a media processing platform for interfacing with at least one network element;

determining access information associated with the at least one network element; and

generating a master parameters list for the at least one network element for use in a processing of a media content item.

2. A method of claim 1, further comprising:

generating at least one native workflow configuration for the at least one network element based, at least in part, on requirements of at least one client;

communicating the at least one native workflow configuration to the at least one network element via the at least one interface; and

creating in a core processing platform a workflow-reference associated with the at least one native workflow.

3. A method of claim 2, further comprising:

associating one or more parameters from the master parameters list with the workflow-reference.

4. A method of claim 2, further comprising:

creating one or more output profiles for one or more outputs generated based, at least in part, on the at least one native workflow in the at least one network element.

5. A method of claim 4, further comprising:

receiving a request for processing a media content item;

receiving a request for a list of the one or more output profiles;

presenting a parameters list associated with a requested output profile; and

validating the request and the parameters list.

6. A method of claim 5, further comprising:

causing an execution of the at least one native workflow at the at least one network element for processing the media content item based, at least in part, on the validated request and the validated parameters list; and

generating at least one output including at least one processed media content item.

7. A method of claim 6, further comprising:

causing an execution of at least one native workflow in at least one network element for processing the at least one output based, at least in part, on one or more validated requests and one or more validated parameters lists.

8. A method of claim 1, wherein the master parameters list includes one or more operations that are available at the at least one network element, a parameterization of the one or more operations, or a combination thereof.

9. A method of claim 1, further comprising:

integrating a plurality of network elements based, at least in part, on a same master parameters list.

10. An apparatus comprising:

a processor; and

a memory including computer program code for one or more programs, the memory and the computer program code configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following,

generate at least one interface in a media processing platform for interfacing with at least one network element;

determine access information associated with the at least one network element; and

generate a master parameters list for the at least one network element for use in a processing of a media content item.

11. An apparatus of claim 10, wherein the apparatus is further configured to:

generate at least one native workflow configuration for the at least one network element based, at least in part, on requirements of at least one client;

communicate the at least one native workflow configuration to the at least one network element via the at least one interface; and

create in a core processing platform a workflow-reference associated with the at least one native workflow.

12. An apparatus of claim 11, wherein the apparatus is further configured to:

associate one or more parameters from the master parameters list with the workflow-reference.

13. An apparatus of claim 11, wherein the apparatus is further configured to:

create one or more output profiles for one or more outputs generated based, at least in part, on the at least one native workflow in the at least one network element.

14. An apparatus of claim 13, wherein the apparatus is further configured to:

receive a request for processing a media content item;

receive a request for a list of the one or more output profiles;

present a parameters list associated with a requested output profile; and

validate the request and the parameters list.

15. An apparatus of claim 14, wherein the apparatus is further configured to:

cause an execution of the at least one native workflow at the at least one network element for processing the media content item based, at least in part, on the validated request and the validated parameters list; and

generate at least one output including at least one processed media content item.

16. An apparatus of claim 15, wherein the apparatus is further configured to:

cause an execution of at least one native workflow in at least one network element for processing the at least one output based, at least in part, on one or more validated requests and one or more validated parameters lists.

17. An apparatus of claim 10, wherein the master parameters list includes one or more operations that are available at the at least one network element, a parameterization of the one or more operations, or a combination thereof.

18. An apparatus of claim 10, wherein the apparatus is further configured to:

integrate a plurality of network elements based, at least in part, on a same master parameters list.

19. A system, comprising:

an ordering platform configured to receive an input for specifying one or more parameter lists for performing one or more operations on a media content item, wherein the one or more parameter lists are associated with at least one network element capable of performing the one or more operations; and

a core platform configured to;

integrate at least one network element capable of performing one or more operations on a media content item, and

generate a master parameters list for the at least one network element for use in a processing of the media content item.

20. A system of claim 19, wherein the master parameters list includes the one or more operations that are available at the at least one network element, a parameterization of the one or more operations, or a combination thereof.
