Abstract

In accordance with an embodiment, described herein is a system and method for management of quota in a cloud computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, a tenant manager component enables configuration and management of tenants within the cloud environment, wherein the tenants can utilize services and resources within the cloud environment. The tenant manager enables quotas to be associated with one or more tenants restricting their provisioning or usages of the services and resources. An elasticity manager component determines usage of the cloud environment services and resources by the one or more tenants, and provides usage information to the tenant manager, for use in managing the one or more tenants in accordance with their quotas.

Claims

1. A system for management of quota in a cloud computing environment, comprising:

a computer, including a cloud environment executing thereon that supports provisioning of enterprise applications;

a tenant manager component, which enables configuration and management of tenants within the cloud environment,

wherein the tenants utilize services and resources within the cloud environment, and

wherein the tenant manager enables quotas to be associated with one or more tenants restricting their provisioning or usages of the services and resources; and

an elasticity manager component, which determines usage of the cloud environment services and resources by the one or more tenants, and provides usage information to the tenant manager, for use in managing the one or more tenants in accordance with their quotas.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein each tenant can be associated with a service environment within which services can deployed for use by that tenant.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein each tenant'"'"'s associated quota determines the amount of services that can be provisioned, and resources that can be used, within their service environment.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the tenant manager maintains a hierarchy of tenants and subtenants, which is used in applying the administrative commands to the particular tenants or subtenants associated with the received commands.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein each tenant and subtenant has a quota associated therewith, including that each subtenant'"'"'s quota is included within their senior tenant'"'"'s quota.

6. A method of providing management of quota in a cloud computing environment, comprising:

providing, at a computer, a cloud environment that supports provisioning of enterprise applications;

providing a tenant manager component, which enables configuration and management of tenants within the cloud environment,

wherein the tenants utilize services and resources within the cloud environment, and

wherein the tenant manager enables quotas to be associated with one or more tenants restricting their provisioning or usages of the services and resources; and

providing an elasticity manager component, which determines usage of the cloud environment services and resources by the one or more tenants, and provides usage information to the tenant manager, for use in managing the one or more tenants in accordance with their quotas.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein each tenant can be associated with a service environment within which services can deployed for use by that tenant.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein each tenant'"'"'s associated quota determines the amount of services that can be provisioned, and resources that can be used, within their service environment.

9. The method of claim 6, wherein the tenant manager maintains a hierarchy of tenants and subtenants, which is used in applying the administrative commands to the particular tenants or subtenants associated with the received commands.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein each tenant and subtenant has a quota associated therewith, including that each subtenant'"'"'s quota is included within their senior tenant'"'"'s quota.

11. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium, including instructions stored thereon which when read and executed by one or more computers cause the one or more computers to perform the steps comprising:

providing, at a computer, a cloud environment that supports provisioning of enterprise applications;

providing a tenant manager component, which enables configuration and management of tenants within the cloud environment,

wherein the tenants utilize services and resources within the cloud environment, and

wherein the tenant manager enables quotas to be associated with one or more tenants restricting their provisioning or usages of the services and resources; and

providing an elasticity manager component, which determines usage of the cloud environment services and resources by the one or more tenants, and provides usage information to the tenant manager, for use in managing the one or more tenants in accordance with their quotas.

12. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 11, wherein each tenant can be associated with a service environment within which services can deployed for use by that tenant.

13. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein each tenant'"'"'s associated quota determines the amount of services that can be provisioned, and resources that can be used, within their service environment.

14. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 11, wherein the tenant manager maintains a hierarchy of tenants and subtenants, which is used in applying the administrative commands to the particular tenants or subtenants associated with the received commands.

15. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 14, wherein each tenant and subtenant has a quota associated therewith, including that each subtenant'"'"'s quota is included within their senior tenant'"'"'s quota.
