Abstract

In accordance with an embodiment, described herein is a system and method for service locking in a cloud computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, the system includes a plurality of services which can be used by applications within the cloud environment, wherein the services can be associated with and utilize resources within the cloud environment. A service locking component provides locking of a cloud entity, such as a service'"'"'s configuration or usage of resources, including determining a requested configuration or usage by each of the services of resources, and if the requested configuration is not allowed, or the usage by a particular service reaches an allocation of resources for that service, instructing the system to lock the entity, for example the service, at its current configuration or usage of resources.

Claims

1. A system for service locking in a cloud computing environment, comprising:

a computer, including a cloud environment executing thereon that supports provisioning of enterprise applications;

a plurality of services which can be used by applications within the cloud environment, wherein the services can be associated with and utilize resources; and

a service locking component, which provides locking of a cloud entity or service'"'"'s configuration or usage of resources, including

determining a requested configuration or usage by each of the cloud entity, services of resources, and

if the requested configuration is not allowed, or the usage by a particular cloud entity or service reaches an allocation of resources for that service, instructing the system to lock the cloud entity or service at its current configuration or usage of resources.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the system includes an administration interface, and communicates notifications of the locked services to the administration interface.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein services can be locked to prevent configuration changes to those services.

The system of claim 1, wherein the system enables configuration and management of tenants within the cloud environment, wherein the tenants utilize services and resources within the cloud environment, and wherein each tenant can be associated with a service environment within which services can deployed for use by that tenant.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein each tenant can be associated with a quota that determines the amount of services that can be provisioned, and resources that can be used within their service environment.

6. A method of providing service locking in a cloud computing environment, comprising:

providing, at a computer, a cloud environment that supports provisioning of enterprise applications;

providing a plurality of services which can be used by applications within the cloud environment, wherein the services can be associated with and utilize resources; and

providing a service locking component, which provides locking of a cloud entity or service'"'"'s configuration or usage of resources, including

determining a requested configuration or usage by each of the cloud entity, services of resources, and

if the requested configuration is not allowed, or the usage by a particular cloud entity or service reaches an allocation of resources for that service, instructing the system to lock the cloud entity or service at its current configuration or usage of resources.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the system includes an administration interface, and communicates notifications of the locked services to the administration interface.

8. The method of claim 6, wherein services can be locked to prevent configuration changes to those services.

The method of claim 6, wherein the system enables configuration and management of tenants within the cloud environment, wherein the tenants utilize services and resources within the cloud environment, and wherein each tenant can be associated with a service environment within which services can deployed for use by that tenant.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein each tenant can be associated with a quota that determines the amount of services that can be provisioned, and resources that can be used within their service environment.

11. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium, including instructions stored thereon which when read and executed by one or more computers cause the one or more computers to perform the steps comprising:

providing, at a computer, a cloud environment that supports provisioning of enterprise applications;

providing a plurality of services which can be used by applications within the cloud environment, wherein the services can be associated with and utilize resources; and

providing a service locking component, which provides locking of a cloud entity or service'"'"'s configuration or usage of resources, including

determining a requested configuration or usage by each of the cloud entity, services of resources, and

if the requested configuration is not allowed, or the usage by a particular cloud entity or service reaches an allocation of resources for that service, instructing the system to lock the cloud entity or service at its current configuration or usage of resources.

12. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 11, wherein the system includes an administration interface, and communicates notifications of the locked services to the administration interface.

13. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 11, wherein services can be locked to prevent configuration changes to those services.

14. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 11, wherein the system enables configuration and management of tenants within the cloud environment, wherein the tenants utilize services and resources within the cloud environment, and wherein each tenant can be associated with a service environment within which services can deployed for use by that tenant.

15. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 14, wherein each tenant can be associated with a quota that determines the amount of services that can be provisioned, and resources that can be used within their service environment.
