Abstract

A technology for interacting with a collaborative videoconferencing environment is disclosed. A display having a substantially “L-shaped” configuration allows for display of collaborative materials and video of remote participants simultaneously, which provides for a more natural interaction for a meeting participant interacting with the collaborative materials. Meeting participants can electronically retrieve or send materials to the collaborative meeting via interactions with their personal computing devices.

Claims

1. A method implemented on a personal computing device comprising:

connecting to a collaborative meeting using a communication interface;

displaying a portion of a screen of the collaborative meeting on the personal computing device;

receiving a select and transfer gesture on the personal computing device; and

transferring the selected data to a storage device accessible by the personal computing device.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the selected data is a screen shot of the collaborative meeting.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the select and transfer gesture initiates on a selectable object within the displayed portion of the collaborative meeting screen, and the selectable object is the selected data.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the selected data is a file that is being remotely presented.

5. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

executing on the personal computing device, an application configured to display the portion of the collaborative meeting screen, receive the select and transfer gesture, and initiate the transfer of the selected data.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein receiving the select and transfer gesture further comprises:

receiving a point and hold on an object on the display, whereby the object becomes selected; and

receiving a swipe or drag gesture, swiping or dragging the selected object to a drop area defined on the display, whereby reaching the drop area defined on the display is effective to initiate the transfer of the selected file.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the storage device accessible by the personal computing device is a storage service.

8. A product comprising:

a non-transitory computer readable medium having computer-executable instructions stored thereon; and

the computer-executable instructions being effective to cause a computing device to perform a method comprising;

connecting to a collaborative meeting using a communication interface;

displaying a portion of a screen of the collaborative meeting on the personal computing device;

receiving a select and transfer gesture on the personal computing device; and

transferring the selected data to a storage device accessible by the personal computing device.

9. The product of claim 8 wherein the selected data is a screen shot of the collaborative meeting.

10. The product of claim 8 wherein the select and transfer gesture initiates on a selectable object within the displayed portion of the collaborative meeting screen, and the selectable object is the selected data.

11. The product of claim 9, wherein the selected data is a file that is being remotely presented.

12. The product of claim 8 further comprising:

executing on the personal computing device, an application configured to display the portion of the collaborative meeting, receive the select and transfer gesture, and initiate the transfer of the selected data.

13. The product of claim 8, wherein receiving the select and transfer gesture further comprises:

receiving a point and hold on an object on the display, whereby the object becomes selected; and

receiving a swipe or drag gesture, swiping or dragging the selected object to a boundary of the display, whereby reaching the boundary of the display is effective to initiate the transfer of the selected file.

14. A system comprising:

a communication interface of a personal computing device configured to connect to a collaborative meeting;

a display of the personal computing device configured to display a portion of a collaborative meeting screen;

a user interface of the personal computing device configured to receive a select and transfer user input on the personal computing device; and

a memory of the personal computing device configured to store computer executable instructions effective to cause the personal computing device to connect to the collaborative meeting;

display the portion of the collaborative meeting screen, and initiate transfer of data selected by the select and transfer action to a storage device accessible by the personal computing device.

15. The system of claim 14 wherein the selected data is a screen shot of the collaborative meeting.

16. The system of claim 14 wherein the select and transfer gesture initiates on a selectable object within the displayed portion of the collaborative meeting screen, and the selectable object is the selected data.

17. The system of claim 14, wherein the selected data is a file that is being remotely presented.

18. The system of claim 14 wherein the memory of the personal computing device is further configured to store computer executable instructions effective to cause the personal computing device to execute an application configured to display the portion of the collaborative meeting, receive the select and transfer gesture, and initiate the transfer of the selected data.

19. The system of claim 14, wherein the storage device accessible by the personal computing device is a networked storage device.

20. The system of claim 14, wherein the storage device accessible by the personal computing device is part of the personal computing device.
