Abstract

A method and a device for providing content to at least one external device are provided. The method includes communicating with the at least one external device, displaying a plurality of contents stored in the device on a screen of the device, determining whether the at least one external device is executing an application corresponding to an application being executed in the device, and providing at least one of the displayed plurality of contents to the at least one external device, based on the determination.

Claims

1. A device for providing content to at least one external device, the device comprising:

a communication unit configured to communicate with the at least one external device;

a display unit configured to display a plurality of contents stored in the device; and

a controller configured to determine whether the at least one external device is executing an application corresponding to an application being executed in the device, and provide at least one of the displayed plurality of contents to the at least one external device, based on the determination.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein the application corresponding to the application being executed in the device is same as the application being executed in the device, and

the application corresponding to the application being executed in device and the application being executed in the device are used to share contents between the device and the at least one external device.

3. The device of claim 2, the device further comprising:

a input unit configured to receive user input to transmit the at least one of the displayed plurality of contents to the at least one external device,

wherein the communication unit is further configured to transmit the at least one of the displayed plurality of contents to the at least one external device, in response to receiving the user input.

4. The device of claim 3, wherein the display unit is further configured to display an icon corresponding to the at least one external device in a GUI of the application being executed in the device.

5. The device of claim 4, wherein the user input is a selection input to select the at least one of the displayed plurality of contents and to select an icon displayed in the GUI, and

the controller is further configured to provide the at least one of the displayed plurality of contents to the at least one external device corresponding to the selected icon.

6. The device of claim 5, wherein the user input is a touch input to touch and drag the at least one of the displayed plurality of contents to the icon corresponding to the at least one external device.

The device of claim 4, wherein the user input is a touch input of a user to select a predetermined button included in the GUI of the application being executed in the device, and the controller is further configured to provide an image captured by the device, according to receiving the user input.

8. The device of claim 7, wherein the controller is further configured to provide the captured image to the at least one external device, according to the selection of the predetermined button, while the icon corresponding to the at least one external device is displayed.

9. A method of providing content to at least one external device, performed by a device, the method comprising:

communicating with the at least one external device;

displaying a plurality of contents stored in the device on a screen of the device;

determining whether the at least one external device is executing an application corresponding to an application being executed in the device; and

providing at least one of the displayed plurality contents to the at least one external device, based on the determination.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the application corresponding to the application being executed in the device is same as the application being executed in the device, and

the application corresponding to the application being executed in device and the application being executed in the device are used to share contents between the device and the at least one external device.

11. The method of claim 10, the method further comprising:

receiving user input to transmit the at least one of the displayed plurality of contents to the at least one external device,

wherein providing the at least one of the displayed plurality of contents comprises providing the at least one of the displayed plurality of contents to the at least one external device, in response to receiving the user input.

12. The method of claim 11, the method further comprising:

displaying an icon corresponding to the at least one external device in a GUI of the application being executed in the device.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the user input is a selection input to select the at least one of the displayed plurality of contents and to select an icon displayed in the GUI, and

providing the at least one of the displayed plurality of contents comprises providing the at least one of the displayed plurality of contents to the at least one external device corresponding to the selected icon.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the user input is a touch input to touch and drag the at least one of the displayed plurality of contents to the icon corresponding to the at least one external device.

15. The method of claim 12, wherein the user input is a touch input of a user to select a predetermined button included in the GUI of the application being executed in the device, and providing the at least one of the displayed plurality of contents comprises providing an image captured by the device, according to receiving the user input.

The method of claim 15, wherein providing the at least one of the displayed plurality of contents comprises providing the captured image to the at least one external device, according to the selection of the predetermined button, while the icon corresponding to the at least one external device is displayed.

17. A non-transitory computer readable recording medium having recorded thereon a computer program for executing a method, the method comprising:

communicating with the at least one external device;

displaying a plurality of contents stored in the device on a screen of the device;

determining whether the at least one external device is executing an application corresponding to an application being executed in the device; and

providing at least one of the displayed plurality of contents to the at least one external device, based on the determination.
