Abstract

A user of a content sharing platform is identified a playlist is generated for the user. The playlist is generated based on one or more of the user'"'"'s social interactions with other entities and the user'"'"'s actions associated with other media items. The playlist may be modified or deleted if the user does not access the playlist or does not consume media items from the playlist within a threshold period of time.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:

identifying a first user of a content sharing platform, wherein the content sharing platform comprises a plurality of media items;

identifying a subset of the plurality of media items based on social interactions between the first user and one or more entities and actions performed by the first user, wherein the actions are associated with one or more media items of the content sharing platform;

generating a playlist based on the subset of the plurality of media items;

providing the playlist to the first user; and

receiving an indication to activate the playlist from the first user.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the one or more entities comprise a user of one or more off the content sharing platform or a social networking platform.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the actions comprise subscribing to a channel associated with a first entity from the one or more entities.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the actions comprise indicating an approval of a media item associated with a first entity from the one or more entities.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the social interactions comprise adding a first entity from the one or more entities as a social connection on a social networking platform.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the social interactions comprise one or more of electronic mail communications, telephone communications, SMS communications, and MMS communications, chat communications, or social connection network communications.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising:

providing the first user with access to media items in the playlist.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining that the first user has not viewed a media item from the playlist for a threshold period of time; and

deleting the playlist.

9. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining that the first user has not viewed a media item from the playlist for a threshold period of time; and

removing the media item from the playlist.

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein identifying the subset of the plurality of media items comprises:

generating a plurality of affinity scores based on user interactions between the first user and the one or more entities, each affinity score indicative of a level of connection between the first user and one entity from the one or more entities;

identifying a subset of the one or more entities based on the plurality of affinity scores; and

identifying the subset of the plurality of media items based on the subset of the one or more entities.

11. An apparatus comprising:

a memory to store data;

a processing device coupled to the memory, the processing device configured to

identify a first user of a content sharing platform, wherein the content sharing platform comprises a plurality of media items;

identify a subset of the plurality of media items based on social interactions between the first user and one or more entities and actions performed by the first user, wherein the actions are associated with one or more media items of the content sharing platform;

generate a playlist based on the subset of the plurality of media items;

provide the playlist to the first user; and

receive an indication to activate the playlist from the first user.

12. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the actions comprise subscribing to a channel associated with a first entity from the one or more entities.

13. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the actions comprise indicating an approval of a media item associated with a first entity from the one or more entities.

14. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the social interactions comprise adding a first entity from the one or more entities as a social connection on a social networking platform.

15. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the processing device is further configured to:

determine that the first user has not accessed the playlist for a threshold period of time; and

delete the playlist.

16. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the processing device is further configured to:

determine that the first user has not viewed a first media item from the playlist for a threshold period of time; and

remove the first media item from the playlist.

17. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein identifying the subset of the plurality of media items comprises:

generating a plurality of affinity scores based on user interactions between the first user and the one or more entities, each affinity score indicative of a level of connection between the first user and one entity from the one or more entities;

identifying a subset of the one or more entities based on the plurality of affinity scores; and

identifying the subset of the plurality of media items based on the subset of the one or more entities.

18. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed by a processing device, cause the processing device to perform operations comprising:

identifying a first user of a content sharing platform, wherein the content sharing platform comprises a plurality of media items;

identifying a subset of the plurality of media items based on social interactions between the first user and one or more entities and actions performed by the first user, wherein the actions are associated with one or more media items of the content sharing platform;

generating a playlist based on the subset of the plurality of media items;

providing the playlist to the first user; and

receiving an indication to activate the playlist from the first user.

19. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 18, wherein the actions comprise subscribing to a channel associated with a first entity from the one or more entities.

20. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 18, wherein the actions comprise indicating an approval of a media item associated with a first entity from the one or more entities.

21. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 18, wherein the social interactions comprise adding a first entity from the one or more entities as a social connection on a social networking platform.

22. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 18, the operations further comprising:

determining that the first user has not accessed the playlist for a threshold period of time; and

deleting the playlist.

23. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 18, the operations further comprising:

determining that the first user has not viewed a first media item from the playlist for a threshold period of time; and

removing the first media item from the playlist.

24. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 18, wherein identifying the subset of the plurality of media items comprises:

generating a plurality of affinity scores based on user interactions between the first user and the one or more entities, each affinity score indicative of a level of connection between the first user and one entity from the one or more entities;

identifying a subset of the one or more entities based on the plurality of affinity scores; and

identifying the subset of the plurality of media items based on the subset of the one or more entities.

25. A computer-implemented method comprising:

receiving a first user input comprising at least one of social interactions between a first user and one or more entities, or actions performed by the first user, wherein the actions are associated with one or more media items of a content sharing platform, wherein the content sharing platform comprises a plurality of media items;

receiving a playlist identifying a subset of the plurality of media items based on at least one of the social interactions between the first user and one or more entities, or the actions performed by the first user;

presenting the playlist via a user interface; and

receiving a second user input indicating an activation of the playlist.
