Abstract

An electronic device including a first transceiver configured to process a first carrier, a second transceiver configured to process a second carrier, a switch, a baseband processor configured to process a first baseband signal and a second baseband signal, which are processed respectively by the first transceiver and the second transceiver, an antenna connected through the switch in association with some of a plurality of reception paths with respect to the first carrier, and a reception path configured to provide the second transceiver with the first carrier received via the antenna connected through the switch to the second transceiver.

Claims

1. An electronic device comprising:

a first transceiver configured to process a first carrier;

a second transceiver configured to process a second carrier;

a switch;

a baseband processor configured to process a first baseband signal and a second baseband signal, which are processed respectively by the first transceiver and the second transceiver;

an antenna connected through the switch in association with some of a plurality of reception paths with respect to the first carrier; and

a reception path configured to provide the second transceiver with the first carrier received via the antenna connected through the switch to the second transceiver.

The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the baseband processor receives a baseband signal of the first carrier from the first transceiver via a medium corresponding to the first transceiver and receives a baseband signal of the first carrier from the second transceiver via a medium corresponding to the second transceiver, and thereafter provides the baseband signals to a processing module through internal routing.

3. The electronic device of claim 1,

wherein the second transceiver converts a reception (RX) signal of the first carrier to the second baseband signal if the electronic device does not receive the second carrier, and

wherein the baseband processor combines the first baseband signal and the second baseband signal.

4. The electronic device of claim 1, further comprising a third transceiver, wherein the reception path includes the switch configured to switch a signal received via the antenna to one of the second transceiver and the third transceiver.

5. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the reception path includes a band-pass filter configured to filter a signal a frequency band of the first carrier.

6. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the switch is configured to connect the antenna to the second transceiver if the second carrier is not received in the electronic device or if the electronic device operates in a single-carrier mode.

7. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the reception path is activated if the second carrier is not received in the electronic device or if the electronic device operates in a single-carrier mode.

8. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the second transceiver is configured to convert a reception (RX) signal of the first carrier to the second baseband signal if the second carrier is not received in the electronic device or if the electronic device operates in a single-carrier mode.

9. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the baseband processor selects some signals to be combined on the basis of signal quality from at least one first baseband signal processed by the first transceiver and a reception (RX) signal of the first carrier processed by the second transceiver.

10. The electronic device of claim 1, further comprising a controller configured to select a second antenna configured to receive a signal of the first carrier to be provided to the second transceiver.

11. The electronic device of claim 10, wherein the controller changes the second antenna configured to receive the signal of the first carrier according to whether a reception capability is improved as a result of the combination.

12. The electronic device of claim 1,

wherein if the electronic device operates in a Carrier Aggregation (CA) mode, the first transceiver processes the first carrier, and

wherein the second transceiver processes the second carrier.

13. A method of controlling an electronic device, the method comprising:

processing a first carrier via a first transceiver when the first carrier is received;

if a second carrier is not processed, providing a second transceiver with the first carrier received via an antenna connected to the second transceiver through a switch and processing the second carrier by the second transceiver when the second carrier is received; and

demodulating and decoding a baseband signal of the first carrier processed by the first transceiver and a baseband signal of the first carrier processed by the second transceiver.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein demodulating and decoding of the first baseband signal and the second baseband signal comprises:

inputting a baseband signal of the first carrier processed in the first transceiver to a baseband modem via an input corresponding to the first transceiver;

inputting a baseband signal of the first carrier processed in the second transceiver to the baseband modem via an input corresponding to the second transceiver; and

inputting the baseband signals to a processing module through internal routing of the baseband modem.

15. The method of claim 13, further comprising, if the electronic device does not receive the second carrier, converting a reception (RX) signal of the first carrier to the baseband signal by using the second transceiver.

The method of claim 13, wherein providing the first carrier to the second transceiver comprises providing a signal received via the antenna to the second transceiver by controlling a switch configured to switch a signal received via the antenna to one of the second transceiver and the third transceiver.

17. The method of claim 13, wherein providing the first carrier to the second transceiver comprises activating a band-pass filter configured to filter a signal of a frequency band of the first carrier included in a reception path between the antenna and the second transceiver.

The method of claim 13, wherein providing the first carrier to the second transceiver comprises converting a reception (RX) signal of the first carrier to the baseband signal by using the second transceiver, if the second carrier is not received in the electronic device or if the electronic device operates in a single-carrier mode.

19. The method of claim 13, wherein demodulating and decoding comprises selecting some signals to be combined on the basis of signal quality from at least one baseband signal processed by the first transceiver and the baseband signal processed by the second transceiver.

20. The method of claim 13, further comprising changing an antenna configured to receive a signal of the first carrier according to whether a reception capability is improved as a result of the combination.

21. The method of claim 13, further comprising:

if the electronic device operates in a Carrier Aggregation (CA) mode, processing the first carrier via the first transceiver; and

processing the second carrier via the second transceiver.

22. An electronic device comprising:

a first transceiver configured to process a reception (RX) signal of a first carrier when operating in a Carrier Aggregation (CA) mode;

a second transceiver configured to process an RX signal of a second carrier when operating in the CA mode; and

a baseband processor configured to demodulate and decode a signal processed by the first transceiver and the second transceiver,

wherein the second transceiver converts an RX signal of the first carrier to a baseband signal when operating in a non-CA mode, and

wherein the baseband processor is provided with a baseband signal of the first carrier from the first transceiver via an input corresponding to the first transceiver and is provided with a baseband signal of the first carrier from the second transceiver via an input corresponding to the second transceiver, and thereafter provides the baseband signals to a processing module through internal routing to combine the baseband signals.

The electronic device of claim 22, wherein the input connects the baseband processor with a path configured to provide a signal to the baseband processor, as a medium configured to provide a signal from an external portion of the baseband processor to an internal portion of the baseband processor.

24. The electronic device of claim 22, wherein the input is one of an input pin and an input node.

25. An electronic device comprising:

a first antenna, a second antenna, and a third antenna;

a first transceiver and a second transceiver configured to receive at least one of a first signal and a second signal via the first antenna, the second antenna, and the third antenna,

wherein if the first signal is not received, the first transceiver receives the second signal via the first antenna and the second antenna, and

wherein the second transceiver is configured to receive the second signal via the third antenna.

26. The electronic device of claim 25, further comprising a third transceiver configured to receive a third signal received via the third antenna.

27. The electronic device of claim 25, further comprising a reception path configured to provide the first transceiver with the second signal received via the first antenna and the second antenna, wherein the reception path includes a switch and a band-pass filter configured to filter a signal of a frequency band of the second signal.

28. The electronic device of claim 25, further comprising a baseband processor configured to combine the second signal processed by the first transceiver and the second signal processed by the second transceiver.

29. The electronic device of claim 25, further comprising a baseband processor which is provided with a baseband signal of the second signal from the first transceiver via an input means corresponding to the first transceiver and is provided with a baseband signal of the second signal from the second transceiver via an input means corresponding to the second transceiver, and thereafter provides the baseband signals to a processing module through internal routing.

30. A method of performing a communication via an electronic device, the method comprising:

receiving at least one of a first signal and a second signal via at least one of a first antenna, a second antenna, and a third antenna; and

providing the first signal or the second signal to a first transceiver or a second transceiver,

wherein providing the first signal or the second signal comprises;

if the second signal is not received, providing the first transceiver with the first signal received via the first antenna and the second antenna; and

providing the second transceiver with the first signal received via the third antenna.

31. The method of claim 30, further comprising combining the first signals processed respectively by the first transceiver and the second transceiver.

32. The method of claim 30,

wherein the first signal processed by the first transceiver is input to a baseband mode via an input means corresponding to the first transceiver,

wherein the first signal processed by the second transceiver is input to the baseband modem via an input corresponding to the second transceiver, and

wherein the first signals input to the baseband modem are collected to a processing module through internal routing of the baseband processor.
